I know there's that trailer thread for FFXIII but that's ... for its trailers (despite the fact that topics go all over the place in it. XD)!
Man, people weren't kidding when they said you can die quite fast in this game. ^^ I rarely ever see the Game Over screen in FF games but this one is like, "Well, hey, GO Screen! Just saw you about half an hour ago! How's it going?"
My first death came from the boss in Lake Bresha then subsequent deaths came from the regular enemies known as Watchdrones. ^^;
I have a question to ask about those buggers!
Going into a battle head-on using the Relentless Attack Paradigm is probably one of the dumbest things anyone can do seeing that there's always more than 2 of them to deal with in any fight.
I usually leave it on Diversity or whatever with Lightning as Commando, tee-hee-hee annoying girl with crazy inconsistent accent(s) as Medic and Sazh as Ravanger. Sometimes, I switch to Tri-disaster to get the water and lightning attacks in but those don't seem to do too much against them even though those are their weaknesses.
What I have found, however, is that battles with these things seem to take long no matter what I do. >:( And once they use their Electrokicks, well, there goes my HP. :P
I don't think I ever managed to finish a battle against them with even a 1-star rating. :B!!! And I don't have enough of those things that give you Brave, Haste, and whatever before starting a battle. (Guess I should save those for boss fights though.)
For what it's worth, I've almost "maxed out" the Crystarium for everyone in the party for now. But maybe part of the issue with the lightning and water magic seemingly not doing enough damage is that no one's got their Magic + whatever up yet. ^^;;??
Oh! The question is ... how do I deal with the damn Watchdrones? ^^

The watchdrones are total bullocks until you get access to a commando. Timing partial attacks to make sure the stagger gauge never fully depletes while in relentless assault was about the best way I could figure. Sazh eventually gets access to Commando, though, so you won't be like " Fuck. " whenever Lightning bitches out and leaves the party again. With that part of the game you're at though, it's important to note what the game tells you about enemies fighting eachother. I know there was one encounter in particular that involved 2 watchdrones and 3 Panthera, Help them take out a watch drone, kill off two Panthers, kill off the remaining drone, kill off the panther. As long as both "factions", so to speak, are left alive they never focus on you. Remembering that is key to not dying there since you lack a Commando. That and the enemies tend to violate you. That said, have fun with the Eidolon battles. ^_^

Well, actually, I was asking about the drones from Chapter 3. :P
Currently doing 4 and I SO made the mistake of killing off the Pulsework Soldiers first during one of those gang wars with Watchdrones + Thex-things.
The moment the clanky clickity enemies went down, I had 2 Thex-things and 3 Watchdrones come down on me. They took down my Medic (Vanille at the time) and then went for Sazh. >_>
Hurling Potions did nothing since it wasn't fast enough. XD
Anyway, one issue I have with the battles is that I can't see the ATB gauge for the other party members. I've tried the bit where I'm just smacking the enemy with one attack while the others charge but a lot of times, the stagger gauge goes down way too fast.
Maybe having less active Ravangers attack would help? :|
I actually have the default Paradigm as RAV SAB SYN. Not entirely sure those Deshells and stuff are really helping though sicne the battles still seem to take a while.
I have managed to get some 3-star ratings though!
And why is it taking forever for the game to introduce weapons upgrades? I have a billion Components sitting there and since it's so damn hard to find Gil in this game, I ended up selling a wee bit of them. (Needed Potions, y'see.) I guess I should get rid of all the Credit Chips though.

My bro says that a Commando slows down the stagger gauge, so start off with a Commando attacking then switch to your Ravagers again to build up the stagger gauge quickly. Once you break them, Commandos tend do deal more damage (especially once you get launch ). Brother also had a problem with the weapon upgrade deal, but it doesn't take much longer from where you are. He's at Chapter 9. My advice? Stealy hardship gropes the battledom.

Thankees to you guys for the tips. :D
Asking questions around here is always a comfy feeling since I don't have to worry about someone answering with some snarky reply or anything~~~

Ha ha! Yeah, there's a reason why this is the only forum I've ever registered on. It's good to have so many adults around (as in maturity, not age, which is irrelevant).
Even professional forums like the philosophyforums seem to have a bunch of juvenile punks on them. Damn Nietzscheans!

HAHAHAHA.
Took me 8 tries (I gotta fix my LJ entry where I wrote retries but that's wrong! It was 7 retries!! XD! Details, details~~) to defeat Odin.
The Libra technique helped in figuring out what to do but the problem was HOW to do it.
I ended up using a whatever-sol -- the ones that gives Haste + 3 other buffs -- before going into the fight. In retrospect, I think I should have opted for the one that does Protect, Shell, and whatever else. Oh wells.
Having extra speed was good but semi-pointless when I was on Medic-Medic.
It was kind of annoying that they SUDDENLY throw this battle at you cuz its speed was so out of the blue. It's like you're executing 293843 commands every 5 seconds. XD And then, you have to flip back and forth between Paradigms to keep up with what the bastard was doing.
But it's battles like this that give you that sense of accomplishment! :D What I'm most proud of is that I didn't even look at a guide or any gameplay videos for hints. ^^
However, I was chatting with a friend at the time and he gave me the tip to attack when Odin was guarding. I suppose that should be a no-brainer considering it's nigh impossible to successfully land shots when he's whaling on your characters. But typically, I use enemy pauses to restore health. ^^~ CAN'T DO THAT IN THIS BATTLE THOUGH. :B

Hey, d00des~ For any of you playing the game or have played the game already, did you even upgrade your weapons?
I'm finding it insanely difficulty to get components to consistently up their levels. I only have a few at level 4 and level 5 and I'm already at Chapter 9. :P
This game is pretty mean when it comes to money and stuff.
And now the Crystariums are freakin' expensive too. For the longest time, you could pretty much max out a stage before moving to the next chapter w/o hanging back and triggering enemy respawns too much but that stopped being possible starting in Chapter 8.
So now, it's back to GRINDING again. RPGs need to get away from this stuff. >_>
Also, 5 Deckdrones doing a Tornado Kick on a Sentinel character is very bad news.

Well, at least not if I want to max out the stages before moving to the next chapter. :3! Ooog. Vanille is squeaky in battles in the Japanese version. ^^

You do realize that "CP" is 4chan speak for "child porn," right? -Tom The fact that you know that doesn't look good for you dude I can't contribute, because my copy is still in transit. I'll stare at my Lightning figurine instead.

Yeah, I told my friend that while I was watching him playing the game.
And in math class we talked about the lines DP, so I joked about Double Penetration.

It's also totally pointless cus each chapter raises the amount you get, making filling the previous Crystarium levels much easier :p
