Oh man, I can just imagine it'd be based off of the Ys SEVEN system.
Being able to play as Karna would be fun. ^O^~~~

Get in line behind everyone else waiting for a Falcom version of IV... dunno if I'd want it using Seven's engine though. I think the Oath engine would just feel more right, what with it being an older game and all. That being said, I'd take anything that let you play as Karna. I remember how she made Adol look like a wimp in DoY when she fought alongside you.
Mmmm, IV remake combining the best of both games... yeah, however they go about doing it it's pretty much inevitable that they'll make their own version one of these days. Until that day arrives however, I'll just count my blessings that we're finally getting official releases of so many internally developed games.

As I played Mask of the Sun first, I recall thinking she was so cool to be able to single-handedly take out a bunch of soldiers! I think she did some whirlwind kick too! Then in that wee bit of Dawn of Ys I played, I remember racing around the place outside the prison to see how many Romun soldiers I could take out before her because she was a freakin' tank! Karna was one-hit killing everyone she touched! Not fair!

Nope. The PS2 and PSP ports of Ys VI were handled by Konami. The versions of Ys I, II, and III we received way back when were tackled by Hudson, Tonkinhouse, and Sega. Hudson also handled the Sega CD version of Popful Mail, I believe (or if not them, then Sega). Bandai ported the Legend of Heroes PSP games... and Interchannel did Ys I & II on DS, as well as Ys Strategy IIRC. Oh, and Koei ported Brandish to the SNES, I believe. And I dunno who did the DOS ports of Ys I and Sorcerian, but it wasn't Falcom. Same with the NES Falcom games we got, like Faxanadu (Hudson), Legacy of the Wizard (Namco?), and Tombs & Treasure (dunno). Gurumin is the only Falcom title released stateside thus far that was actually ported to PSP in-house by Falcom themselves. It's the fewest steps we've ever officially gone from Falcom's hands to our fun receptors. But now XSEED is giving us six more games Falcom handled entirely in-house, for maximum awesomeness!! -Tom Didn't NEC work on those Ys I-III ports themselves as well? I may be mistaken.. And if I recall, Sorcerian and Ys I for DOS were developed by Broderbund and distributed by...Sierra?

Interchannel did Ys I & II on DS, as well as Ys Strategy IIRC. Future Creates developed Ys Tragedy. Developed is a strong word to use for what Future Creates did with Ys Tragedy.

I must be slow... it took me like a month to put 2 and 2 together to realize what you guys are calling tragedy is actually strategy, lol. It's that bad, isn't it?

Please do not honor that game by calling it by its birth name

So they're NOT changing that hideous logo (re: font and colour of the title)? GodDAMN. >:(

I maintain that it's a good box art. The font -is- a little off from what I think is best, but overall it's eye-catching and if it brings in new fans, then more power to them.

Would you rather they advertise her front and center and spoil the surprise? Granted, Alternative Saga is doing it but the intended audience for that game already knows.

While I know the original simple JP cover won't do wonders for catching people's eyes, I really much prefer that one. :B
Next time, XSEED should hold a boxart contest so that we can vote on the bestest cover design! >:(
Or maybe just a font face + colour contest.
Seriously, fonts are just as important as the layout design and such! Learned that in a design course in art fundamentals, I did!

I actually like the font quite a bit. I just don't like the blue background. That's the one thing I'd definitely change. See, the font by itself is fine but just not when you slap it onto a layout design like that. The background is alright though. XD I take it back. No, it's not all that alright. ^^ Man, the more I look at the JP cover, the more I think it looks so cool. ^^ Never even noticed the skeleton on it until now. >____>

Follows the rules of US game covers to a 'T': Has to have the name of the game prominently and clearly displayed, and has to have pictures of the main characters. No room for anything abstract in our market anymore!
...guess we learned a lesson from Phalanx for the SNES

The name of the game is cut off like it's going to wrap to the spine or something (which it'll probably be cut off by the spine!) and it's under the characters layer, instead of on the top layer where it should be. Fix those two problems and I'd be happy.

The background actually looks like some of the official art. If you look close, you can see the 5 dragons circling in the sky. I liked how they used a darker Ys logo instead of the Ys 6 version that looks like the horizon. For some reason it never seemed to look that good to me.
Edit: Forgot to mention, I think a chance for the fans to choose the box art would be awesome. Or at least some level of input would be appreciated.

My only complaint about the boxart is that... it looks a little generic. But we're lucky to just get these games officially released in the first place, so I'll take whatever I can get.

Still waiting on Amazon Canada to list the game. Wonder if they'll even be getting the LE? >____>
I guess if they don't, I'll be forced to either go to GameStop and pre-order or have someone from the US buy it and send it to me.
Really doubt any other stores up here will really pay attention to Ys SEVEN. But then, Wal-Mart had DJ Max Fever in stock and such so I guess I shouldn't be too pessimistic.
