Really? That's what I used to call it, way back when. Thought that was the standard mispronunciation, really. -Tom I originally pronounced it as "Wise", and I've seen some others pronounce it as such, too. Anyway, that's what I always thought was the popular incorrect term to use. As for my fun, I went to the Best Buy Dragon Quest IX event last Saturday, and talked to some people about other RPGs they like to play, and I brought up Ys. Some people said they "heard of it but never played it". Shame it's not a very well-known franchise overseas... it could do a lot better, me thinks.

"heard of it but never played it" I think that sums up common gamer knowledge of Ys in the West. Rarely you do find someone who played I & II on TCD or Wanderers on SNES/Genesis. At classic game shows I always find Ys I for Master System but never find anyone who has actually played it. When Napishtim came out for PS2 "heard it was decent but never played it" was the common response I got when asking people if I should give it a shot or not.

Hell, the only people I really know who have ever played Ys(excluding people from this forum) are other people online, and it's like, both of them have only played Ys III. And both of their reactions to the game were 'It was okay, but didn't leave a very good taste in my mouth'. lawl

Bonus points to them if they at least know what I''s is. Anime fans usually know I"s, it was/is fairly popular in the countries around the Netherlands. and so manga and dvds slipped into the specialized shops

I've heard of it, but nothing beyond the name 'til now.
Don't seem like my thing.

Never heard of it, and I'm not really a stranger to anime. It actually sounds like something I might enjoy during one of my sappy periods.

If you were an anime fan in the US back in the 80's, chances are you knew Video Girl Ai. But I''s never got a large release here. I think the manga only came out after the turn of the century.
There was a week in college where I was chaining together a bunch of older romantic dramedies and I''s was one of them. By the end of the week I was tired of happenstance misunderstandings and random forgotten genki girls getting in the way of relationships as plot devices.

Oh yeah, check out XSEED's Twitpic account for a daily dose of Pikkard foodstuffs .... until Ys SEVEN's release. Or so we think. twitpic.com/photos/XSEEDGames

No, we need a Felghana shirt that just shows a picture of Bob's speech portrait, with the caption, "BOB LIVES!!!" wut? Also, 8-bit Dogi is still better.

It's quite good. But then, I have a fondness for Masakazu Katsura stories (he also did Video Girl Ai and DNA2). He's one of the few guys I know of who writes romance stories very specifically meant for dudes. -Tom This. Video Girl Ai and I"s are among my fave mangas I always thought Ai would make a good anime/OVA, but I'll have to make due with the I"s pure ones. Zetman would make a pretty badass OVA too.

d00de, I don't remember ANYONE in the game except Adol, Dogi, Elena, Chester, Priest guy (forgot name), the Sister (forgot name) and the final boss.
Oh wait, I remember Christoff and his sister (forgot name) and their parents (forgot their names and noble titles).
Seriously, Felghana was a play and forget for me. :P
Google did squat for Bob. Had to ask people who he was. I think one issue is that I played it in Japanese so I didn't completely know what was going on. (I think I got the patch after I finished it and never bothered to apply it for a replay.)
