Does anyone else hate Final Fantasy guy's work? He makes dudes look really feminine and put beads and weird adornments all over his characters. Not a fan.

Depends. I think he does great work generally (consider his work for Vampire Hunter D and how well his style meshes with the descriptions) but I had no complaints when Dissidia chose to base Bartz design on his sprite rather than the gray-haired character in his Amano art. I know some of it has to do with sprite limitations and I'm biased in favor of whatever I saw first but I do like his style most of the time.

Amano is an acquired taste. He's not for everyone. For one? He'd make everyone blonde if he could. Two, he does like to over-decorate. look at art for characters like Gogo or Vivi. Lots of crazy detailing. Over the top. he does love to draw everyone feminine... but the women are even more feminine, which you'll never hear me complain about. His art of Celes Chere, or Faris Scherwiz... is amazing.
But it is something that had to grow on me.

I did not know Faris's last name until just now. <_<
I attribute my appreciation of Amano to owning Nintendo Power's FF3 strategy guide. So much beautiful artwork in there.
You should see the new CG movie Amano is doing the designs for. While the outfits are more subdued, the faces/hair are all classic Amano, complete with male lipstick...

I did not know Faris's last name until just now. <_< I looked up FF Wiki. Originally to find Sarisa (Salsa from the PSX version always screws me up) then was like... Eh she didn't switch to the name, so she's Faris to me

Eh, I was a fan of FF a decade ago. If I'm not a fan of the art by now, I don't think I ever will be. Actually, I've lost interest in that series altogether. At some point I realized how whiney the characters are. Dissidia and Crisis Core looked like they had potential, but they failed me too (the gameplay was good for both but the characters are a little much for me).

I have this error. can you help me? Apparently the game only uses the first disk drive, so you'll have to swap between the two disks in the first disk drive. Now i can play! thanks!

You wanna see some strange Ys artwork? I've been meaning to share these on here for a while now, and this seems like the perfect chance... These are pocket strategy guides for the Famicom releases of I & II This is a picture of the Goddesses from the inside of the first guide. There's not much more than this as far a art is concerned, but this is defiantly not official Falcom art!

I had no idea Amano did Ys stuff, ever that's like, two of my favoritest things in the known universe, combined. Was it just the one picture of (presumably) Feena and the pearl? (I am an unabashed Amano fangirl. So i loved Dissidia's art and characters, but hated the gameplay.)

In that case you should love Duodecim since a lot of the new costumes are based on his artwork (like Garland's 'Cloud Demon' alt). And yeah, I think that's the only Ys-related art Amano has done but I'm perfectly happy to be proven wrong on that point.

Ah, the old X68K version. Jeez, its hard to believe it's been nearly six years and not once have I replayed that version of the game (courtesy of Ys I & II Complete).
