In order to put PS2 saves onto the harddrive you first need the official Sony utilities disc v1.1. You install the hard disk utilities on the disk and once done you can creat folder partitions on the hard disk and then easily transfer saves from memory card to hard drive. Where do you get the utilities disc you ask? Well, I downloaded it off of a torrent site. Not sure what it officially comes bundled with.

Well, I was going to rip another game onto my pc, but, now I can't remember what the name of the program I was using is, I don't think it was Whiip, though, I tried searching for that, & didn't find a place I trusted to download it. Any suggestions?

Whiip? It's called Winhiip. Download it from the worst website in the world, right here.

Winhiip is the way to go paranoia. I highly recommend it.

Ok, so, if I use this, do I seriously have to wipe the hd clean? I do have saves I'm keeping on it, so that means I'd lose them, though, can I copy them onto another drive on my PC, & then, once the wiping is done, transfer them back?

I'm sure that possible but I havnt done it. You would need to identify the save folder with winhip and then copy it to your PC and then back.
I dont believe you need to wipe your harddrive even though thats a option. I would just use Winhip to transfer a game image to the PS2 hard drive.

WinHIIP doesn't even see my PS2 Hd connected. I'd like to avoid formatting it Edit-I should note, that my PC see it as an unrecognizable device. It says "No drivers are installed for this device" but, when I look for drivers, it says that it can find any better drivers.

Try changing the HD setting to slave instead of master. That will probably do the trick. What type or hard drive do you have? Seagate? Samsung?

If you've already been installing games to your hard drive, winhip should automatically know that your hard drive is in PS2(linux) language. Do what FM-77 says and set the PS2 hard drive jumper to slave. Make sure you set it back to master when putting the PS2 hard drive back into the PS2 expansion bay or the PS2 wont recognize the hard drive.

It's the Sony one that comes with FF11. To set it to slave, you just pull out the tabs, correct? I already tried that, & that didn't work either. The only time I've installed games to my hd, is by using the PS2 to rip the game, & once, I used DVD Decrypter & then used HDL_Dumb to transfer, though, I don't seem to be able to get that to work anymore either(take about 3 hours to transfer a 7 Gig game).

Aha, that makes things more confusing. Do you have any other IDE units in your computer? Like a CD-ROM or whatever. Try using a different connector on the IDE cable. Just for fun. It might work. Edit: You DID connect the power cord to the hard drive as well, right ( this one)? I don't really know how that drive looks, so a regular molex connector might not fit properly. Just guessing.

Yeah, the power cord is connected, I have the hd connected via usb, so, it just shows it as an unkown device. I do have a removable hd drive unit thingy, maybe I can put my PS2 drive in that.

The PS2 official hard drive is like only 40 GIGs. I highly advise you to invest in at least a 200GIG hard drive for the PS2. You cant get that many games on a 40GIG. Maxtor hard drives work great.
