On December 19th Falcom will release a very special collectors item: the Falcom Special Box 2004. This is the first time in seven years that Falcom releases such a special box set. This box bundles the two largest Falcom RPGs: Ys and Xanadu. Apart from the complete versions of YsVI (The Ark of Napishtim) and a Windows version of the Legend of Xanadu the box comes with a lot of extras, namely: - YsVI soundtrack, including bonus tracks, on two CDs
- A DVD full of extra's like Ys sketches, storyboards, postcard creators and more
- A DVD Video containing the opening scenes of Xanadu and YS6, but also previews of new Falcom games
- A 3-CD set with all 100 tracks from the Xanadu (and Ys?) series
It goes without saying that this box is not just some cheap set to boost Christmas sales, but a true collectors item with many valuable extras for the real Falcom fans. Relevant link: Falcom

Your link to falcom is dead.
I wonder if cocoebiz.com will carry this. Hmm I bet those dvds are all japanese region, zone 2 iirc. They wont work on my dvd player... Maybe I will have to get a playstation and region zero converter... then I could play Ys eternal.
Also, I highly doubt all the music from the xanadu series and Ys series will fit on 3 cds... hmmm If you can find that link, that would be great!

I could never decide if the cd/dvd option means that it is MIDI music for computer, or if there is a dvd for the dvd player of some sorts... All of the other special boxes had music, the special box 96, and 97 had some sort of radio drama... I only own special box 97 and the millenium version of special box '89. Special box '97 has 2 cds of music and one cd of radio drama, all in Japanese of course I may have to break down and learn japanese. They offer an intensive 3 month course of over the summer which packs in 2 years of courses. I am a teacher during the year, so if I have the time, I may have to look into this over the summer.

You got those? I envy you! you can get the special box '89(the re-released millenium version, not the original '89 version) imported from cocoebiz.com www.cocoebiz.com/catalog/f.htmlFalcom's millenium series seems to be re-releasing all their old music, which is great. They ship to Europe ... I got the '97 version from gamemusic.com... they seem to still have it...tho they maybe just havent updated in a while. I dont know. Like I said, one of the CDs is just a radio drama, entirely in Japanese. I want to learn japanese... Maybe I will travel to Japan and teach english there. That could be cool. www.gamemusic.com/dept/101/productdetail.asp?dept=101&cat=5003&itemid=1405&uid=1546200312017179That is the link for the special box '97. It is pretty expensive, over 50 american dollars, but the music is very good. gamemusic.com also ships to europe

This babel fish is great, just like the the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy!
I am surfing through the Falcom site, and their catalogue has all the old music cds, even the rare and out of print ones... Hmm, I supposed this is just a catalogue and NOT their current stock. Argh, I wish I knew japanese, that would make all of this so much easier.

Yeah. I believe The hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy came up with the Babel fish, right? I need one of those up my ear canal. Would come in handy.
Yes. Their catalog is interesting. Most.... Interesting.
EDIT: Oh, yeah. You don't get any games in the box. Sadly.

EDIT: Oh, yeah. You don't get any games in the box. Sadly. Oh, my comp is too weak to play the newer games anyways. I really should get a better one, but upgrading for the sake of gaming just doesnt seem practical to me... tho I already have an excellent mouse and keyboard... I just need a CPU and monitor... hmmm

What kind of computer do you have? Falcom says 800MHz is enough, but that is incorrect. It sometimes runs slightly slow on my Athlon XP 2600+....

Really? I didn't know. Well that is great. Is it the first one in the Xanadu series? I love the Project EGG emulations. They are great. Check out their site, they're working on lots of games!

What about Kaze No Densetsu Xanadu ? Also, you can get the Ys Vi variable difficulty version for an extra 3000 yen, if I am reading their page correctly. It may apply only to people who have already bought Ys VI directly from Falcom's website. I dont understand it fully, even with babel

gillianseed! good to see you in here, my butt is still sore from the ass kicking you gave me today in VM online lol.
As for getting Ys VI for 3000 yen with the special box, I could be wrong, but i think it is only for people who have bought their origianal Ys VI from falcom's website. It is difficult when you dont read japanese :/

That would be great.... And I have no idea. I have no plans to buy either the box, OR the hard YsVI game. I'll just wait for the english release, to play it again (in english! yay!).
