I have the PC Engine version, & you can only do the run into enemies thing with one type of weapon, once you get once of the others, you swing your sword or whatever from what I remember. I played a bit thru the caves & then lost my saves due to an overheating Duo. There is a walkthru for the PC Engine version, which is needed, since it does differ from the Sega version. You can find it at Gamefaqs.com right here db.gamefaqs.com/console/turbocd/file/popful_mail_1_2.txtand here db.gamefaqs.com/console/turbocd/file/popful_mail_2_2.txtIf I've heard correctly the PC Engine version is pretty much a straight port of the PC version, but with upgraded music.

Yeah, I have seen that walkthrough on gamefaqs. I wonder how much the Super Famicom version differ from the PC Engine version?

I'm pretty sure that the Super Fami version is quite a bit different from the PCE version, the PCE version is like the Sega version, but, slightly different. The Super Fami version seems like they took the game & switched it around alot.....but, I haven't played it much so don't quote me on that

Actually, the PC Engine version is not very similiar to the Sega CD version.
The PC Engine is a remake of the PC-9801 version. The Sega CD version is doubtless the best one, and the Super Famicom version isn't really similiar to any of them.

Really, they seemed similar to me. I have the Sega & PCE versions, I've gotten to the last boss in the Sega version, though never beat him, & I only got to the mines in the PCE version, which up until that point, seemed similar to eachother, though I do know they were different enuff that I had to use Justin's guide.

I don't know anything about a FAQ I'm afraid. But if you have problems, why don't you ask us? Someone here might be able to help you. Alright, here we go: I´m in the cave with those blue, round dragon-like creatures. I have come to the room with the green-haired guy (I guess) who is tied up and jumping back and forth. Going through the hole in the wall just leads me back to a part of the cave where I´ve already been. What should I do next? Remember it´s the Super Famicom - version.

I have played the megaCD version a long time ago, but I still have the CD in here. The CD has one japanese song that I quite like as well.

Does everyone here understand that it is not the same game as the Sega/Mega CD version? Super Fami and PC Engine are very similar, but Sega/Mega CD is totally different.

Uh, if anything, I'd have to say the levels are more similar between the Sega & PCE version. I have them, you can "almost" use a strategy guide for the Sega version, for the PCE version.

Thanks! You just solved a problem ive had for six months or so.. k- ive finally gotten past that obstacle, but just after that (area with pink gaw) im trapped inside a cavern that leads nowhere- i cant seem to go anywhere but down and to the right- but its a dead end. Do i need gaw? and if so where and how would i get him? Hopefully someone would write a walkthrough- cause this is the only game ive ever had problems with..

You won't get Gaw till you beat the boss in this place. I think what you have to do next is..... Do you have the pick-axe in the item slot? Exit this place on the right. And look for the passage in this picture

thanks! with your help i just finished the game!, pretty good,- the end came kinda abruptly- and i found gaws ant tat's ultimate weapons after i beat their respective bosses- it was HARD, but i eventually beat them- then beat mail's boss- the game is really different from the sega-cd, and even the turbo one- not quite sure who some of the characters were- like the blond headed chick- who muttonhead is seen with at the end- the girl who keeps getting kidnapped. and who were the two girls, one red and one green who were riding the bubbles? im kinda surprised this versions never been fan translated..

The Sega CD version was my first Falcom game! Mant that game is awesome. I need to get a copy of it. I play with an iso with mp3s that don't work.

You play it but it doesn't work? No, he said the MP3s don't work. Well, you aren't missing much. The vast majority of the music is Genesis MIDI...though it is fairly good-sounding Genesis MIDI. The in-game voice acting is all ADPCM, I do believe. If I remember, the only things that the CD-DA provides are the intro, the ending credits music, and the title screen. So, not a big deal at all.

There are just two additional tracks (that makes three tracks, including the data track.) that is the title screen music, and the menu music (options/load game screen). They are both good, but they sound like Genesis audio as well (sort of). Otherwise, I don't care much about the soundtrack in Popful Mail - at least not the Sega CD version.

Will the SNES version ever be translated? Offcially? No. Not unless it gets ported to a newer system (like NDS) which won't happen. The only hope is an inofficial translation. Dare we hope Deuce picks up the project?
