This is a very nice platform/adventure/RPG-game from Falcom. It's very much like YsIII and there are four releases of it. They are the following: - NEC PC8801/9801
- NEC PC-Engine
- Sega CD (Released in the US!)
- Super Famicom
The Sega CD version is released in the US and it is the only english version of the game. The SNES version was going to be released in the US known as Elf Adventure but they cancelled the project. Probably because of lack of sales of the Mega CD version. Popful Mail was released in Apr 22, 1995 on Mega CD in the US and it is a really nice game. The 2 ½ hours of spoken dialog and 20 minutes of animation is very impressive for a game on a 16-bit system! A cool thing is that Popful Mail for PC-Engine features the same battle system as in the early Ys games. Run into the enemies to beat them - only, this is in a SIDESCROLLER! It's strange, but very interesting. This is a screenshot from the Mega CD version. Doesn't this remind you of Ys?

It looks like Ys III, but I can't remember if I played this game. All those SNES RPG's look kinda the same, but they are still very good. maybe I run into the game somewhere and I'll but it ^^

I have the SegaCD version and I have always loved it, except the crappy Working Designs voice acting and overly gaudy foil stamped everything. Ugh. Some people love them but I think they just utterly ruin their titles. What I wouldn't give for an import MegaCD of this one. It's such a good game.

I have just completed the snes version...... its really an interesting game... I think the story is suppose to be funny, Maybe I will try the other versions some day! I notice that the Sega CD Version is completely different to the Snes ver. I was stuck in the game the other day......and found a walkthru for Sega CD Version but the walkthru did not help at all...

Yep, it is a totally different game. You should really really find an .ISO or buy the SegaCD game if you see it. Better yet, find the MegaCD version.

Yep, it is a totally different game. Well, does anyone know of a FAQ or Walkthrough for the SFC-version?

I don't know anything about a FAQ I'm afraid. But if you have problems, why don't you ask us? Someone here might be able to help you.

I received the game today, so I´ve just started to play. First of all, is it possible to save the game whenever one would like to, or is there certain "save locations"? I tried to save my game in the menu, but all I managed to do was to load an already saved game. *sigh*

You can only save on "save locations". It's some girl in a house if I remember correctly. Another question: Where did you get it? I bought it right from Sweden!

Now all I have to do is figure out in which house one could save the game. No, I have never seen this game in Sweden. I bought it from Ebay. I guess I was really lucky, cause the price was only $9.99 and the condition of both box, manual and game is great. After I bought the game, I have seen it for $20 in quite bad condition, so I guess one can say it was a real bargain.

In a house, right. It's one avaliable in the village, and one in the cave (in the beginning of the game).
Only $10, eh? Yes, that is cheap. I got it for around $20 (170SEK), in total mint condition. I think we've seen the same one on Ebay. There's one for $19 there now, been there for a loong time.

First I received Popful Mail this morning, then some hours later a complete (with box, game and manual) Legacy of the Wizard arrived with the regular post.

Btw, how did you get your copy of Tombs & Treasure? It seems very hard to find this game.

In the first village you can save in this house. Inside.....choose this choice Then choose this... Then choose the slot you want to save the game.
