Hi, I thought I'd join these forums since I'm a big fan of Ys. I'm a lurker over at the rigg board and just shimmied on over here.
I got into Ys way back when it was only 3rd game to be released stateside for the TurboCD. (right behind Monster Lair and Fighting Street) So, I picked it up. Needless to say the music and the voice acting floored me. The story was enthralling to boot. I was hooked. I picked up Ys III as well for the Turbo. Staying away from the SNES and Genesis versions. Turbo was just the better system imho.
I remember when Ys IV came out too. I would drool over it at the local import videogame store Buy-Rite. (now closed due to bad business practices) Hoping it would soon be released in English. But thanks to Nightwolve and Duece and all those other fine people who helped it's here.
*dreaming of the day Ys V is translated*
I recently picked up Ark of Napishtim... for some reason I did not know it was released in the US back in February. duh... anyways, I was very impressed. I even wrote Konami an email thanking them for porting it over and hopes that they port more. I never write fan letters, but they just have to be thanked for porting the first Ys game to the US in over a decade. crap. I feel old.
I love Ys, and I love all the other fans for keeping it alive like this. Even though the US has such little coverage. Hope to make some friends here.
I'm also a big Star Wars and Doors fan if anyone cares. Later
