That's my question, I see at the bottom of the order page, it says Legend of Xanadu 1 & 2. Anyone know what this is about? Maybe they're offering both those games with it? That's another guess of mine.

The Legend of Xanadu I & II comes with the limited edition of Xanadu NEXT. The game itself has nothing to do with The Legend of Xanadu (it's related to the original Xanadu for PC-8801, among other old systems).

Ok, I figured that was one of the possibilities.

Is it a remake of the original Xanadu?

Nope. It's an entirely new game.

Still wish they would make a Legend of Xanadu 3. Man, when I first got the soundtracks to I & II it is all I listened to for three weeks. No kidding! I love those games, and the PSG music in them as well. Classic Falcom sound.

I have yet to play the original Xanadu, but Legend of Xanadu I & II feature the same combat system as Ys I, II,and IV, where you run into the enemies. The games feature lengthy cinemas with high quality voice acting as well. They also have bright, vibrant graphics. The games do however feature awesome side scrolling stages for the boss battles in the first one, and just side views for the boss battles in the second one with no actual stages. The character sprites in the first one are just like Ys, but for part II they made them much larger. I HIGHLY recommend the Legend of Xanadu games, even though for the first one if you don't know Japanese it requires patience. I think the combat system is the same run into the enemies style for the original Xanadu, but since I haven't played it I don't know for sure.

Xanadu features Falcom's own "crash into the enemies" action, yes. But it's the older system - stand next to an enemy and press the button in that direction. The enemy will get hit (or you miss). Now it's the enemy's turn. It's turn-based "crash into the enemy" action. Very dull. Just like the original Dragon Slayer. The game Xanadu itself is just a really boring, really old style dungeon crawler. Beware of this game. It may be Falcom's worst (imo). Dragon Slayer I is much more entertaining (Xanadu is Dragon Slayer II). Xanadu Next is also a dungeon crawler, but at least it features a battle system fairly similiar to YsVI. The N-Gage and the PC versions aren't the same, so I will have to recommend both.

It sure is. I recommend "Falcom Classics" for Sega Saturn. It includes Dragon Slayer, Xanadu and Ys. All decent remakes with pretty good graphics and nice music. It is also very cheap (only available in Japanese -- but both Dragon Slayer and Xanadu are almost entirely in English anyway).
