Ciao! I would like to play again with "The Legend Of Xanadu" (win version, comes with "Xanadu Next) but i remember when, years ago, i've tried to play the PC-Engine version and I'm remained blocked to half games... No walkthrough (complete) available around? Gianluca

I hope to be done with a guide soon, but I have a question.
It seems like Xanadu Next takes place in the same universe as Legend of Xanadu. Does it take place before or after Legend of Xanadu II? I wonder because of what happened at the end of Legend of Xanadu II.
Based on the LOX 2 ending, I think Xanadu Next takes place before the Legend of Xanadu games. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I haven't really taken the time to play thru Xanadu Next, so, I'm curious as to what makes it seem like it's a sequal/prequal? Are there characters in it, that were in the LOX games??

Xanadu Next has different characters from the familiar casts in LOX I & II. What the games have in common is the Dragon Slayer Sword, which makes an appearance in all three games. I can't spoil the ending to LOX 2 for those who haven't played it, but it was just so cool. LOX II is called the last of Dragon Slayer, which kind of has two meanings if you've seen the ending. It makes me think Xanadu Next is the earlier tale of the Dragon Slayer sword, based on how you obtain the sword in that game. I wonder if any more information was given about the sword in Xanadu Next that might shed any light as to it's appearance in the Legend of Xanadu games, since I don't know Japanese yet.

The Xanadu games aren't really a "series." They're sharing some elements, like the Dragon Slayer and the King Dragon, but that's mostly it. There's no "timeline" like in the Ys games, for example.

Well, at least I'll have LOX I & II, which still kick butt every time I play them.

Both were cd. Excellent games. I will say, at first, depending on your tastes, you might be thrown off, by the fact, that most of the music, is chip music. But it's excellent chip music, you can tell Falcom did these games! LOX2 is easier to beat without knowledge of japanese, as I've beaten it, & not the 1st one. Though, I can't remember the ending to the 2nd one, & my save file got erased on my Duo, due to it's overheating But I might still have it on my Tennokoe Bank, so, I could upload it to my SuperGrafx.....if it is indeed on that card

Some of the best chip music ever! I never get tired of it! I need to play the first one again. One of the sidescrolling levels is where you're jumping across rooftops at night that was just incredible. Because of there being actual side scrolling and over head areas, the first one is much longer and harder than the second one.

Because of there being actual side scrolling and over head areas, the first one is much longer and harder than the second one. So there is an area where you run across rooftops?? I don't remember that one, but, that makes sense, since that's similar to an idea I have for an action RPG that will have elements of the LOX games

The chip music doesn't bother me at all, because the turbo psg chip kicks ass and i love its sound, especially if used well. The language barrier is a problem tho. While it appears that most of the forum members here know some to a lot of japanese, I know zilch. don't suppose anybody translated these either. I would definately try the second one, see how far i get.
This is way off subject, but among the turbo fans here, would anyone have any use for maps for the game nuetopia I and II? I made them a while back for my own use, but if someone else might find them useful, anyway, thanks for the info.

I've got two maps for the first game, they are over 4M each, so I can't post them here, if you want I can email them to you or send them via usendit, or I could shrink them way down, whichever you prefer.

I want them too! BTW, speaking of Neutopia, we're(Seldane, myself, & some others) are working on a new Neutopia! Hmm, I wonder if I should let you hear some of the music. Dammit, I need a 2nd site where I can give stuff to the public, without being able to hear all the other music, so as not to spoil anyone, since my lil' site is for our team to go to. Well, I could email a select track or 2. I do remember that Nod(the programmer) released the title screen music to the public.
Back on track, LOX 2 is like I said, very beatable without any knowledge of japanese, since I don't know any Japanese, & beat it myself. There might be a spot or 2 that you'll get stuck in. Just lmk. I know I got stuck around the sewers in a city, that's right up from a beach.

Cool! I didn't know Seldane was on Frozen Neutopia! Anyway guys, just let me know how you want those files and I'll get them to you. And I would be glad to preview some music, I'm a bit of a musician myself, so I always enjoy hearing what others can do. Did you do any PSG music, or is it all redbook? Anyway, let me know.

Just email the maps to breathfire@gmail.com, & then, depending on how big emails you recieve can be, I'll send a song or 2 your way. Or, I could even invite you for a gmail account, which recieves up to 10 MB, if I remember correctly.

I fired up the redbook audio for Legend of Xanadu for PCE and track 11 has to be the best one on there. If only this game had all the music in redbook audio then it would of been up to par with Ys Book I and II. I havnt yet played these games to experience the chip music but track 11 sure is inspiring me to do so. Has anybody ripped the chip music for Legend of Xanadu I and II for PCE?

Best chip music ever I think! If you've ever read how passionate Wyrdwad is about PopoloCrois, that's how I am about Legend of Xanadu I & II. I'm still reworking an old guide for the first game, and I should have finished it long ago, but I hate typing large amounts of text. I'll post it when I finish it, if anyone's interested.

I think I have rips of both. I know someone on either the Pcenginefx boards, or the Magicengine boards ripped them. If you can't find them, LMK, & I'll see if I can find them on my comp, & email them to you! As for redbook audiou, I agree. However, I still love the music, especially in LOX2. Someday I'd like to recompose all the songs in that game with my equipment.....too many things I want to do!!! Well, I'm interested in that walkthru ofcoarse, I'd LOVE to play thru that game somehow!

I have both Legend of Xanadu games for PCEngine so the redbook audio is there. I found the OST's at the VGM hub so all is good. I now can listen to the chip music.
