I searched for any threads pertaining to Dinosaur and I couldn't find a thing, so here goes... Has anyone played this? I've always been curious about the original, and this remake looks to be far more user-friendly. I'm sure the language will still be prohibitive, but I can't help but be curious. I have a soft spot for things that look like Wizardry and Arcana, I guess. If nobody has any impressions, well, maybe I'll be the guinea pig for greater good! Or... maybe I'll just get Zwei!! or Ys Origin instead. That works too.

Someone made a thread exactly like this one earlier actually, I'll just say the same things again (I think).
I like Dinosaur Resurrection for many reasons.
First of all, it's pretty. Really pretty. Which is kinda strange since this is a Falcom game... from 2002. The music is good too. Really good. Which isn't particularly strange since this is a Falcom game.
I REALLY like the gameplay. It's so fast. You walk fast, there are no loading times, the battle system's very fast and efficient. Tons of fun, all of it.
Pretty interesting that the remake is so incredibly faithful to the original. It is pretty identical in every aspect, even the music sounds almost exactly the same, which is really cool.
Definitely get this game, you'll enjoy it! This is a REAL dungeon crawler, just like Xanadu Next.

Yeah, that article is part of what pushed me to make this thread, I was hoping to hear a bit more in-depth information about the game, and what Seldane's saying is pretty much what I was hoping to hear! I too was surprised with how good the screenshots looked, being that it's over four years old now. I suspect that when I'm in the market for a new PC game, this may be the one I choose.

Well, there's not too much I can say that's not already echoed in the article. I've honestly never played many of the older 1st person dungeon crawlers, but this one is fast and fairly easy to play. There is a lot of running back and forth between areas, doing fetch stuff, which can be frustrating if you don't know the language. There at least a few walkthroughs out there which should help somewhat, although they are still dependent on some Japanese ability. There are full maps, at least. The graphics do look very nice despite being not all that impressive from a technical standpoint, but that's one of Falcom's greatest qualities.
If you haven't already, I think I put the PC98 disc image of Dinosaur to download. Dinosaur Resurrection is exactly the same gameplay-wise. In some ways it's almost faster, since there's no smooth movement in between squares. Random battles feel more common though.
If you want to wait a few months and have a DS, I highly recommend grabbing Etrian Odyssey (known as Seikaiju no Meikyuu in Japan), it's very similar in style, although the gameplay has a lot more depth. On the downside (or upside, depending) it's also a lot harder and less user friendly. The game is meant to emulate old PC98 dungeon crawlers like Dinosaur, just slightly more modern.
