As I looked through the list of forums, I realized I had introduced myself in the wrong area
So here I am. I came across the forums after doing some research on Ys VII. Originally, I played Ys Book I and II on my Turbo Duo back in the day, and fell in love with the story (along with Dragon Slayer). Then the tragedy that we know as Ys III came out and I couldn't stomach the side scrolling catastrophe they created. The days of the duo began to wane and Ys IV and V, to the best of my knowledge never made it to the US. So now I've picked up with Ys VI: Ark of Napishtim and am about halfway through with it (I think).
Unfortunately, I can't read the Japaense language, which is a problem for playing Ys 4-5 if I wanted to import them. Did these ever make it to the US on any platform?
Anyway, I'm in the US (pretty obvious eh? ), more specifically in the Dallas, TX area. Names Mark as the surname suggests and I'm an RPG guy. I'm currently working through some stuff on my PS/2 because I've been PC gaming for a while having taken a break from RPG's.
Notches on my 'belt o'completion' include:
Ys Book I and II, Dragon Slayer on the Turbo Duo. I partially played Ys III and just couldn't get into it.
Wild Arms and FF7 for the PSx. (here's where my drought began)
Fable, and Sudeki on the Xbox.
I'm currently working through Ys VI, Disgaia : Hour of Darkness, FFX and Dragon Quest VII and La Pucelle Tactics on the PS/2.
My most memorable games, are Ys I, II, Dragon Slayer and FF7 because of their amazing storylines. Back before their plot line's were 'generic'.
At one time, I was an avid fan of anime but alas, I got married and have been out of it for a while. In particular, Legend of Lemenar, Ninja Scroll, Sol Bianca, Slayers, Robotech (the americanized first and third generation), Star Blazers, Tenchi Muyo, Ghost in the Shell and of course - Macross Plus are some of my favorites. The last thing I tried to get into was Gundam Wing but after about episode 4 it just got too "kiddie" for me but its a Manga translation so who knows if its right or not?
