All who played Final Fantasy VII have most certainly been amazed by Sephiroth's sword Masamune. Although some people prefer Cloud's counterpart sword called the Murasame. Well now you can BUY that sword. It costs approx 220 Euros ( 2 020 Swedish Kronors | 282 US. Dollars ) to get of swordsonline.com If I had that kind of money right now, I would most certainly pre-order it right now Masamune: Masamune was a well-known sword maker in Japan during 1100 I think it was. It is said that if you put the Masamune sword in a lake when leaves floated by ( everything from 1- ?? in numbers ) they would get drawn to the blade and float by and it wouldn't cut a single one. Masamune designed his swords with passion and thought that everyone deserved a second chance, that's why the Masamune wouldn't cut the leaves because they did no harm. ( Note: I might be mistaking, but I do know 110% certainly that the Masamune did not cut the leaves ) Masamune also had a student- Murasame: Murasame also lived during the 1100 ( if I'm not mistaking ) in Japan. He was Masamune's student. He belived that swords was mearly a tool for killing people, and thus his swords was possesed. While the Masamune wouldn't cut any leaves, the Murasame would cut ALL leaves in two that floated by the blade. This really is an intressting legend, and probably true to ( Everything is possible ). I'm going to check out more on this another day.

It's called Masamune in FFVII too? Same thing goes for Chrono Trigger.

It's called Masamune in FFVII too? Same thing goes for Chrono Trigger. Yes, there is. In some - to - alot of Final Fantasy games you can get the sword. Those two I know of is Final Fantasy 5 and 7. There's been a Masamune sword in most of the FF games. It's a staple of the series, much like Chocobos and a guy named Cid. Probably because it is a legendary sword. They also have Excalibur you know. In Final Fantasy 5 they have two diffrent kinds of versions: Excalipur and Excalibur. The diffrence is that the one with -pur in the end is a fake one and will only damage 1Hp every hit.

Wow, I wonder which sword is more famous, Excalibur or Masamune ? And if I have to choose between one sword, I'll probably pick masamune just because the name is cool =P

Yes, one of the great things about Masamune (at least in Final Fantasy I anyway) is that any class can use it.

I don't think you can say whether Excalibur or Masamune are "more famous." They're part of two different folklore, so it's hard to compare.
When I think Masamune, I think first and foremost of Chrono Trigger, since the Masamune had the deepest backstory and most prominent plot use in that above any other games. There's also a Masamune in Chrono Cross, FF4, FF5, FF7, FF9, FFX, and probably a couple other RPGs I'm forgetting.
Murasame has also been in a few games. FF4 and Chrono Trigger I remember for sure, and probably a couple others as well.
But it should be noted that the sword didn't always look the same. Actually, if the one in the original post is supposed to be Sephiroth's, it doesn't really look long enough to me. Because Sephiroth's was as long as a human being.

Not to try and sound smart or anything, since there's already alot of that sort of thing in this thread, but any sword created by said grandmaster swordsmith is considered to be a "masamune" sword. His school of sword crafting is still functioning to this day, making excellent swords for wealthy collectors. Sorry to blow the mystique.
But speaking of Excalibur, the closest you'll probably come to Excalibur in Japanese mythology (which tends to blur in with it's history the further back you go), is a sword called Kusanagi.
Google up "Kusanagi sword" if you're interested, I'm sure you'll find something about it.

Ouch. I hate to say it but that sword looks cheap. Plus it's stainless steel - a material wholly unsuited for making swords out of. But just the way the edge is ground on screams cheap. It is long though since it's over 6' total. Probably overly heavy and unwieldy. I'd be careful swinging it around as stainless can be brittle and with the sheer size the force generated by a blow could be considerable.
