Why was my username changed to 'adol2'?

No idea. Either you changed it, or a administrator did. For unknown reasons. Otherwise, it could be some bug that occured while the board upgraded. But that sounds unlikely.

I see... would you be willing to change it back for me? If it was infact changed by an administrator, I wasn't informed or given any reason for this.

Exactly. There's nothing to change. You can change your viewed username by yourself - but it's already "Adol". Your login username is also "Adol".
Edit: Oh excuse me, your login username WAS "adol2". Are you sure it wasn't like that from the beginning? It's not possible to change the login username - in any way. Unless some bug has occured.

Is it possible that someone already had their login username set as "adol" (emphasis on lowercase) and then, when the board updated, his login username was altered? Because I know my login username was initially "Vert," but was changed to "vert" upon the upgrade. Perhaps when they lowercased his login username they added the 2 so it didn't conflict with the other guy who already had that lowercased name. |

Ah, wait. I just remembered - usernames are no longer case sensitive. That's why usernames got changed. (For example, if your username was Vert, you would be unable to log in with the name vert. This is no longer the case.)
