Hey All,
So... when I was 9 years old I was given a Turbo Duo for Christmas. I had no idea what the hell it was. There was a game with it called Ys. I tried it and couldn't figure anything out. It sat on a shelf for almost 2 years when I finally picked it up again and figured out how to start playing it.
From then on I was a changed person. It's hard to imagine now that something as simple as a video game could have had such a profound effect on my life. I've rarely played any games since.
Unfortunately I loved the music so much that after playing the disc in my cd player repeatedly, it no longer worked on my Turbo Duo.
I have never played the game since and I would give anything to play I&II again. I am hearing all of these different titles and versions and it's really quite confusing. If anyone can offer me some advice on where to look for a version of I&II that I can play on XP...in english...I would be very appreciative.
Cheers, Mike

Hey Mike. Welcome to our site. You can download Ys I·II (in English) right here. Four different files - download them all and make sure they are all in the same folder, then you can extract the actual game using Winrar. You can download an emulator that lets you play the game on your PC right here. It's a demo version though, which only lets you play for five minutes which kinda sucks. If you have a problem with it costing money, you can, like, get it... get your hands on it... etc. Just... click. I didn't tell you this but .. it's here. I mean, that is, if you want it. I mean, it's... I didn't give you this link. You found it yourself, on Google. Right? If you need any help to get it to run after downloading these files, don't be afraid to ask.

Hey FM-77,
3 of those 4 files on that website are no good. (As in pts. 2,3, and 4.) They generate block errors during extraction... whatever the hell those are. It comes up as a CRC error. Is it me, or the files?

Hey, looks like you're doing it wrong. Download all four files, put them in the same folder, then just open the first file and extract the contents through that. It will load data from the other three files automatically - you cannot extract them one by one.

Ok I think I've got them all downloaded and extracted. The files are MP3's and an ISO file which Magic Engine says right on their website won't play. What do I need to do to get this game running?

Are there any more files than that ISO and the MP3 files? There's usually a batch file (.bat) that will convert the MP3 files to wave, which is required to be able to play it. If not, look for a program that will convert MP3 files to WAV files. I recommend CDex. cdexos.sourceforge.net/

What do I do once I've downloaded CDex? The only files I have btw, are that ISO file, all the mp3 files and there are 2 CUE image files.

The easiest way would be to open the CUE file (the one that says mp3-something) with a burning program (like Nero) and burn it to a CD. Then you can use that CD in Magic Engine.

I burned just that one file to a CD and tried it, Magic Engine said "Not a PCE CD!" Should I burn all of the files, including all the WAV files on a CD?

You're not supposed to burn just that file. Right click it and choose "Open with... -> Nero Burning ROM" and Nero will open up a dialogue showing you all the audio tracks, etc. Then click burn.

I still get the same error (this is with a CD with all of the files burned onto it.)

Yes that is what I see... but that was my only option. The "Open With...*burning program*" just opened the program and that was all. I'm not sure why I'm having so many problems lol but I must be getting very annoying by now.
