I finally received my copy of Ys Origin the other day. It seems to play well for the most part. I'm getting a really annoying graphical glitch though. Every 4 or 5 seconds the screen jumps/jitters for a second. It's mainly noticable when there's scrolling going on. Also, Napishtim and Felghana don't have this problem on my machine.
System specs:
Windows XP 3.2 GHz Pentium 4 1 GB RAM Radeon x600 256MB HyperMemory
Any ideas on what it could be? Here's what I've tried and figured out so far:
I've downloaded the latest patch for Ys Origin and my video card - didn't make a difference.
I set everything to the lowest settings and it still happens and at the same interval.
I turned the FPS display on and it stays at 60fps even when the glitch occurs.
I tried the other monitor frequencies listed in the Ys Origin config (60hz is my default). All of the other settings giving me constant jumping/flickering except for 120Hz which glitches every 10 seconds but for a longer time (2 seconds). Perhaps the monitor frequency is part of this problem? Any ideas?

I shut off my virus software completely and I also stopped all the background processes I could in the task manager. It didn't seem to help any.

Radeon x600 256MB HyperMemory I turned the FPS display on and it stays at 60fps even when the glitch occurs. This video card is pretty powerless by today's standards (visit tomshardware.com and look at the VGA charts if you'd like to see for yourself) The FPS thing could be that the game is reporting 60 while it's busy rendering, but as Deuce said, could be the Radeon card isn't reflecting this on screen for some reason. If you want to use a PC mostly for gaming I would only use an Nvidia card. I've got the same CPU, RAM and OS as you, but with a GeForce 6800 card (not even PCI-E - just AGP), and I'm playing it with every advanced graphical feature on, with no glitches or drop in FPS. Nor have I bothered to apply any update patches.

That's what I might just do then. Thanks.

Yep, here we go. Latest patch has a few Radeon cards mentioned in it (not yours, though) so it looks like there are issues with them to be ironed out again.
My Mobility Radeon x700 (128MB) works fine though.
