I have a question for Kirby's Adventure fans.
If you could use any powerup through the entire game, including scarce or otherwise unattainable without cheating, which would you choose?
As for me, it's a toss-up between the Sword (difficulty) and the Star Rod. (because I like to use things I'm not supposed to)
I've personally been experimenting and I've come up with some interesting hacks for this awesome game.
1. No select: This should have the same effect as though you had the Star Rod or the Meta Knight battle Sword. You can't press select, and you won't lose your powerup unless you die. The sad truth behind this is, outside of the Meta Knight battle and Finale, it's a buggy hack. Attack something that can't be killed, including icy breath from the penguins, and you get a nasty surprise. Kirby flies off the screen and dies. Rarely, this breaks the game.
2. Always have (power name): You'll always have (power name), until you hit select. Getting hurt, eating enemies, and going through doors will restore (power name). This is useful, especially for UFO Kirby fanatics; because UFO Kirby can't drop through platforms like regular Kirby can. Unlike "No select", you can't progress beyond the Meta Knight battle as the sword in said battle restores (power name), which cannot break through Meta Knight's impenetrable armor. UFO kills The Nightmare in one hit, (laughable!) and The Finale in three. I highly doubt there's any other power aside from the UFO and the Star Rod which can defeat The Nightmare, but it's a fun experiment.
This is fun and all, but both hacks have game-breaking glitches. I wish I could figure out how to create enablers and disablers. I'm still working on it. I've noticed that if I just enable the "No select" flag once manually, everything works fine. I wonder if there's an alternate enabler... might be worth a look. I'll keep experimenting, starting with the Sword from the Meta Knight battle. That seems to switch it on without a fuss.
If there's anything you want to see from my hacking adventure (without breaking the rules), let me know.
