I had ME for a week. I couldn't stand using that horrible OS for any more time. Please don't insult the poor ME user. Yeah, I use ME.

Heh. Windows XP Pro over here. I remember using ME, though. I think maybe I got one of the few decently working copies of it, too, because I didn't have that many problems with it. 'Course I'm also rather absurdly patient at times, so I may just have become jaded to any errors.

Actually, they have always released two different Windows versions.
Home use -> Business use/networking Windows 3 -> Windows NT 3 Windows 95 -> Windows NT 4 Windows 98 -> Windows NT 4 (SP 3/4) Windows ME -> Windows 2000 Windows XP Home - Windows XP Pro Nothing yet - Windows Server 2003

Don't forget that if you check around for Troubbleshooting on XP you'll end up in a "NT-Compitable Forum" - XP is another more userfriendly NT version.

3 of my psc (this one being one of them since it's my gamming rig) run Windows XP Pro (legit, got a good deal while a student). The other 2 are *nix, 1 linix, 1 free bsd (unix). Both have less than half the power of this one and seem to surf the web faster, hmm, wonder why?

Windows ME was the last DOS based OS Microsoft released. After that, they went strictly to NT based (copy oof VMS) OS. The irony about Windows ME was it was DOS based but you couldn't access the DOS prompt.

The hype now is for Longhorn, the new Windows being developed. The new alpha version of it is going to be given to developers at the WinHEC developer's meeting which begins on the 25th. Can't wait to get my hands on this!

I've heard the 3d interface and win fs got cut out of longhorn and it's going to be a xp rehash. I hope that doesn't turn out to be true. I also hope that it goes to market stable instead of only starting to work right 2 years into it's product cycle.

I too use Win2000, can't understand why the best Windows was left out? I'm also using AmigaOS 3.9 alot! The nicest OS ever There is also Win95 which I run on my 486 laptop and Debian (Linux) on my P2 server... and MacOS 9 on my lousy PPC Mac, wish I had a better one who could run OS X.

I use SUSE Linux all over the place Simply the best computing expirience I've had in years. I still remember a look on my brother's face when he brought me a wireless mouse that his XP did not see at all, we plugged it into my Linux box and like magic it started to work (the funniest thing is that it's a Microsoft mouse ). I still use it on that comp. There also is an old PC which runs XP on it. I have a sticker on it that saes: For Ys purposes only And, by the way - Microsoft never sued Lindows. They paid them 12 millions (not sure, might be more) to change the name, which they did. It's called Linspire now. And it is a real Linux.
