So, I've finished Ys 1 & 2 Complete, and I'm about to finish Ys IV: Dawn of Ys. What should be the line to follow? I was thinking of playing Ys III on the Turbo-CD, which is short, I believe? And then wait for Oath in Felghana's or Mask of the Sun's translation. Then eventually play Ys V, Ys VI and Ys Origin when their translations are out.
Would that be the correct line to follow? Or should I play them in another order?
Thanks.

Right order, but avoid Ys III PCE. Play it on MD or SNES instead. And yeah, it is short. Really short.

But aren't the PCE versions the ones with the best soundtracks? Why should I avoid it?

But aren't the PCE versions the ones with the best soundtracks? Why should I avoid it? Because the gameplay in the PCE version is downright terrible. The game's also even more unbalanced than other versions. It is impossible to lose.

You don't have to wait for a translation of Mask of the Sun. The Super Famicom version has already been translated by Aeon Genesis. Welcome back to Ancient Land of Ys. As for your post: Click!

The Turbo version of Ys III is my favourite. The best music and some hilarious voice acting. I don't think the gameplay is really worse than the Genesis version. In fact, I think jumping is worse in that one, specially when you're trying to climb some cliffs. Also, it's not that easy, specially if you don't do some proper levelling up. But remember Oath in Felghana is a remake of that one, so you'll be getting basically the same story.
