I just picked up Ys Book I & II and Ys III: Wanderers from Ys for Turbo Grafx-16 CD, but they are the Japanese import versions I and don't know Japanese. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a script/translation for either of these games so that I can understand them when I play them?
Also, are the Turbo Grafx-16 CD and the Super Nintendo versions of Ys III: Wanderers from Ys the exact same game? I have the English Super Nintendo version of Ys III as well so if they are identical then I could play that instead/first and make my own script from it if all else fails.

There's no script available as far as I know. Those versions of Ys III are not identical -- the SNES version is better in my opinion, but together, they are the worst versions of Ys III available, sorry. I'd recommend getting the English version of Ys Book I&II and Ys III for Sega Genesis.

thanks... Unfortunately I don't have a Sega Genesis, nor can I think of any way to obtain one or those games other than Ebay (which I very rarely use). Ys III for SNES I got from my brother who originally got it back when it was new, but I have never gotten around to playing it because I have been too pre-occupied with other, newer games. The fact that it was the third in the series and I didn't have access to the first two also made me leery of playing it (I'm big on story and completion). The two games for TG-16 CD I just got yesterday from a friend of a friend who was selling off some of his massive game collection, only paid $10 for each of them so no big loss if I can't play them, but I can still try to get through it without being able to understand a word.

Hmm, they're beatable in Japanese, especially 3, which, I originally beat in Japanese, before the US version came out. Personally, I love the Turbo version, especially the music! But, the best version of Ys 3 is deffinitly Oath in Felghana

Do you have the Turbo Grafx or the Turbo Duo? If its a Duo, the >ENGLISH< CD ROM version of it is up on ebay now for $8. That's the one I played through oh so long ago. Click!EBS: Shortened link

Click!EBS: Shortened link I only have a Turbo Grafx-16 with the CD add on, never got a Turbo Duo. That link you posted is the exact version I have, it is the Japanese version and is for the TG-16 CD, the seller only said Turbo Duo because it is reverse compatible. I have tried looking on ebay for the English versions as well as the Sega Genesis versions and any versions of Ys 4-6, the English versions of the TG-16 CD games seem to go for around $40+ each, which is more than I am willing to spend on my current income.
