"Multiple stories circulating on the internet, notably from news site GameFront, report that the upcoming edition of Famitsu Magazine will contain announcements of several new games, including two which should be of interest to RPGamers. Reportedly, the magazine will be announcing a sequel to Nippon Ichi Software's cult hit, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, as well as a new entry in the Ys series, identified as Ys Strategy, for the Nintendo DS." rpgamer.com/news/Q3-2005/092805a.html

as well as a new entry in the Ys series, identified as Ys Strategy, for the Nintendo DS Interesting news. That's all I can say for now.If it is some kind of strategy RPG, are they CRAZY? That would ruin the Ys formula! Man, I hope not!

PLEASE cancel this! A tactical RPG or even a strategy game would be TERRIBLE!

...you have... GOT to be kidding me. How, again, would a SRPG version of Ys work again? Adol's certainly not a General. What are we going to be doing, leading the hordes of Dark Fact against Mineans?

most likely not, it will probably be a tactical rpg like Arc the Lad ( i think that is the game) where when you run into a enemy you will fight them turn based one on one. complete with little hexigon maps to show how far you can move.

Or Adol would be thrown in a war between some group of people and, considering he's a highly experienced warrior, finds himself leading armies!!!
That or Adol may not be in it at all. It could be an independent story that takes place in the same world (complete with some references and cameos maybe? ^^)

Probably a spin-off tactical game set in the same world, but not including the familiar characters as main playable ones - sort of like Final Fantasy Tactics maybe. The SRPG bandwagon is gaining quite the momentum thanks to Nippon Ichi's stuff.

I'm happy that they're finally going to take advantage of the touch screen, but obviously not the way I predicted. I'm waiting to see how they'll do this formula. I have a hopeful look.

"VM Ys - Mystic Far Vortex" Actually, I'll have to agree with you Wyrdwad, I liked Xanadu Next in the beginning, but it got too repeditive. Still decent though. If you ask me, though - Falcom has made TONS of bad games. But I still like them for some reason.

This is sure reinventing the wheel beyond what Ys V did to the series.

Talk about way out of left field. I'll rate this new bite as a resounding "Hrm." Skeptical, yet hopeful.

I know what Ys strategy is, it's fighting enemies like Garland and Galbalan, where you can't just go in and strike at them! Man, those were good boss battles.

Yay!! You get 1 karma, sideshow, for your excellent avatar. All hail Nocturne, one of the best RPGs on the PS2!! -Tom I appreciate the karma bro. I agree Nocturne is one hell of a RPG. I absolutely hate turn based RPG's but Nocturne is the exception. The customization of demons, apacolyptic story, eerie music, and hard ass difficulty makes it the best turn based RPG I have ever played. Which path will you take?

I was hoping more along the lines of Langrisser myself, but oh well. Fire Emblem is fine in its own right, but I like Langrisser more now that I've started to play more of it.
Anyways... this could be interesting or it'll end up being horrible, which I doubt.
