I agree, it is doubtful that Falcom would let anything destroy their star series. I just hate only hearing the title and it is killing me not knowing anything else about the game. Here's hoping for the best!

Player 1: omfg lamer i said no adol rush Player 2: kekekekeke ^^
That looks damn awesome. An Age of Empires-style Ys would totally rock, so long as you can take control of your hero and charge him through the ranks of your enemy and cut a bloody swath!

It really does not look interesting to me at all I hope they do not make the next Ys sequel for the PC like this i prefer my Ys games in real time action. this one looks very boring. I just noticed at the bottom of scan 1 that the game was part way made by Marvelous Interactive. i wonder if Falcom licenced the game to them and this was there envisonment for the series instead of falcoms. I am also wondering if this game will be considered canon and take place in the same world of the Ys we know. the guy with the red hair really does look like Adol but it clearly is not. chris

By the way, it seems the only posts you make are very valuable. Very nice.

By the way, it seems the only posts you make are very valuable. Very nice. Thanks I appreciate your kind words. I'll try and continue to live up to those expectations The game doesn't look like your standard fanfare, but I think I'll probably import it and play it and make judgements then

Oh man, this doesn't look very inspiring to me, thanks HolyEldeel! I think I may check it out just to see what it is like, before I pass judgement on it. Perhaps it could be some kind of prequel to the series, leading up to when the land of Ys was thrust into the sky? That's what I would hope for.

The change was certainly more surprising than I expected. I'm so used to Adol. Good music, excellent game-play, and compelling storyline can save it, stating the obvious. Mostly the first two. (It would be really funny to imagine a petition because of no Adol in this game. Just an absurd prediction I like to make that I know won't come true. )

I think I'll hate this game, but I'll buy it along with a DS as soon as it's released anyway. It's Ys after all!

Well, I'm disapointed as well. I was hoping it was going to go the same route that Konami is taking Suikoden with Rhapsodia/Suikoden Tactics, basically something like Vandal Hearts or FF Tactics. But, Age of Empires? Who knows, maybe I'll enjoy it. It just doesn't look appealing. I mean, Age of Empires is a cool series, but, to merge it with Ys? I also wonder if this is a prequal, &/or involves the Romun Empire, maybe the rise of their Empire?? That's my guess. I already have a DS, initially got it for Lunar Dragon Song, which, as most of you probably know, isn't so great. I don't hate it, but, it's not as good as 1 & 2. But, with the 2D Mario coming out, not to mention Children of Mana & Final Fantasy 3, I'm a happy camper with the DS, but I still want a PSP one of these days, especially for Legend of Heroes 4 & Daxter! Wee, back to the subject. I wonder if this'll even make it outside of Japan?

I doubt it. And I hope it won't. I don't want people to think of Ys as a strategy game.

Will I need to buy a Japanese DS to play Ys Strategy? I also really want to play FF III (been waiting an eternity for an updated version). Or is the DS region free? I don't know a thing about the DS yet, and I have yet to look online for information. The idea of it being a prequel is a way for them to have an Ys game without Adol, which doesn't make sense, still too early to tell I guess. Perhaps that red haired character is Adol's ancestor. Maybe the game will end with the birth of Adol? Sort of like what happened in Star Wars Episode III with Luke.
