lol, i am a bit of a n00b... like i mentioned in one of my first posts here (just started the series this year in march, but ive already beat 5 Ys games, in order)
but i want to make sure... it's "eece" and not "ease", right? and how would it be pronounced in japanese, "isu" (ee-sue)?
thanks in advance

thanks! u know.. i was wondering how early Ys gamers would know how to pronounce it when the games didnt have vocals or anything. anyways, looks like ive been pronouncing it fine all this time (when i bought Ys AoN from my local EBgames, he knew what i was talking about immidiately, so i guess i was proouncing it ok)

so does anyone know how its spelled and pronounced in japanese? cuz u cannot end a word in japanese with a hard S.... thats why im guessing it's "isu".
...or more like, "i-su" with a long "i" (making it 'ee')

You're not a n00b, Inochi. Everyone questions the pronouncing of Ys at least one time through his or her life. I had to mispronounce Ys for the store clerk to know what I was talking about. I was testing him to see if he knew how to pronounce the word. As for the spelling of Ys and how it's pronounced in Japanese, I have no idea. But I do have to thank you for asking the question though.

I always pronounce it "Why-ss" only because I'm a newb and I prefer not to try and be otaku and pronounce everything all japanese-ish. I'm over that =D I don't think it really matters how you say it so long as people know what you're talking about in the first place.

yeah, ive seen a link to info on that on the hardcore gaming 101 Ys site (read that thing over 100 times by now ) its odd how so many places on the web still say the right way is "ease", including IGN and that hardcore gaming 101 site so, im guessing no one knows the Japanes pronounciation? Im going to Japan some day, and i'd like to pick up Ys games over there (i'd know enough japanese by then for sure). it'd be nice to know... guess i'll just have to try using "isu"
