Ok, before you say anything... read first For as long as I've played the game (mostly Ys1 and Ys2), it has ALWAYS been shown as Ys. I bought my copy of Ys6 from ebgames and on the label it showed "Y's: Ark of Napishtim." I thought and still think that this is one of those mistake before of american company knowing almost nothing about the game. However, I borrowed my uncle's copy of Ys Legacy to watch.... and found Ys4 preview and it shows "Ys4: The Dawn of Y's" So, can someone actually clear this? Is the correct word Ys or Y's?

Y's is an ancient mistake. I do not know where it originates from (possibly the 1988 game Y's: The Vanished Omens for Sega Master System).
Anyway, just look at the logo - do you see an ' in there? Also, check Falcom's OWN products - none of them say Y's. I think that's proof enough.

If you have the original Ys games, you may see some katakana at the opening screen. It says I(extend)SU. Iisu. "Eece."

Obviously, for the translation of Ys I on Sega Master System, the translator thought the symbol between the two katakanas stating Hi-Su were a mere '... Dont know why, but the correct spelling is Ys. Period.

It should be obvious, it's not plural form of the letter Y, it's a proper name. If a persons' name is Chris, you wouldn't write it Chri's.

You can draw a couple of paralells between Y's - The legend and Ys - The Games. I'm basing that on this line: "This history is also sometime viewed as the victory of Christianity (Gradlon was converted by Saint Guénolé) over druidism (Dahut and most inhabitants of Ys were worshipers of Celtic gods)." It clearly marks druids eg the six priests of Ys. Also the "Dam" that was suppose to protect Ys could symbolize the Godessess and the key which Satan obtained could be the "Stuff" ( which name I forgot but it produces clearia ) and the great flood could be the monsters that overwhelmed Ys. The king could symobilze two things: Either town M..MMmm ( The one with the brick walls ) or Darm Tower | Darm tower's other name is Devil's Tower so It's likely that it could symobilze the devil to Or I could right now be out flying around Jupiter too, with that said, I could as well be misstaking but that's a theory I have ^^

Apostrophes are for contractions and possessives. It's never appropriate to use them for plurals.
There is one instance when apostrophes are used for plurals. When a letter of the alphabet is a noun and it's plural, then it takes an apostrophe. For example:
"Remember to cross your Ts and dot your Is" is incorrect.
"Remember to cross your T's and dot your I's" is correct.
The reason for this strange rule is to not confuse the words "as" and "is" with the plurals of I and A.
