didn't find a thread but I'm sure there's a post... I've (shockingly) found Ys Book One DVD in a store near where I live in Toronto on sale for $29.99. Then I also saw another store with the VHS on sale for $4.95... lol there are about 4 copies but they're on Book One. I didn't ask them about Book Two or the Legacy... but I think I should. What do you people think of the price? Oh, they're in Canadian prices

29.99 comes to about 24.36 in the US. I'd say, ultimatly, that's a rip off, when Legacy, which contains all of it, rather than just book 1, is only 30.70 US aka 37.79 Canadian at Amazon.ca, here's the link www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001LY9ZA/qid=1103878409/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_0_4/702-8022435-2852064 The equivalent of 5 bucks more in US money. Just order it from them, or maybe there's cheaper places to find it online, either way, that's not much of a sale.

dont forget the shipping cost and possibly costums fee...
The Book One DVD is originally $45.99.... but you are right... The Legacy seems to be a better value that is if I can find it...

There shouldn't be custom fees coming from Canada, if you live in Canada, that listing is at Amazon.ca don't know how much shipping is, but either way, it's way worth it compared to what you saw at a store.

Really old, and I didn't even know it would be avaliable in Canada (or any other country either, for that matter) any more. If I'm not mistaken, this is the original anime tapes, and they are probably extremely hard to get ahold of. I suggest you to buy them (especially since they only cost $5, right?)

Heh. I've actually owned the Ys anime on VHS for nearly a decade. They are fansubs, naturally I don't think they ever officially came out on VHS at all...The translation on it is horrendous, but it's not the WORST fansub I've ever seen. Oh well. Bad translations can be amusing at times too. This particular fansub of Ys insisted on translating "Mamano" as "the evils". That's nearly as goofy as "goons"

I kinda liked the term 'goons'. It was quirky and different.

If the VHS really turns out to be that valuable, then buy it! When else will you find a classinc like that worth only $5?!

You know, I didn't think about how rare the VHS is, I remember seeing them in 91 or so at Die Hard in the Valley, when I bought Browning, & I'd maybe played Ys 3 by that time, but, I think the videos we're expensive, not to mention totally in Japanese. Also remember seeing a Manji Maru demo there, almost bought it instead of Browning.

speaking of dubbing or translation... my cousin have Doremon dvds and it has english subtext and omg, some grammers were wrong, some letters were missing (like Happy became Hapy). But it's true... some translation are so ridiculous that it's hilarious!
