That's no joke, I'm afraid, and you can blame Parish for that addition. He has a total bone for picking on fanboys. And lets admit it, if only to ourselves, us Falcom fans ARE dedicated and vociferous.
Besides, it's obvious from reading the entry that he couldn't be bothered to understand the game mechanics properly, as he implies that the results of combat are randomized when there is, in fact, a definite system of skill required in order to play correctly.
The way Parish's mind works, he'd probably love the game if it was completely unpopular with anyone. Well, his taste is highly suspect anyways. This is the same guy who claims that each subsequent Rockman title is worse than the one before it just because it's more of the same. I don't know about anyone else, but when I bought Megaman 5, I WANTED more of the same. I would have been pissed if it hadn't been the same game with new stages.

Although I somewhat agree with the tiresome 'more of the same' scheme some sequels bring -some should be called expansions rather than sequels- I was also mad after seeing that stupid top 10, oh and I saw it some time ago and they had another great game I liked there: PilotWings 64 They're nuts, that's why I'm away from comercial gaming media, they talk too much crap nowadays, it's run by pure n00bs

Ok, #'s 9, 8, 7, 5, 3, & 2 are deffinitly NOT the worst games ever. I haven't played the others, so I can't comment on them. I enjoy Lufia 3, it's not awesome, but it don't suck. I didn't like the pastels too much in Paladin's Quest, but, I didn't hate them. I've never played the Saturn version of Silhouette Mirage, but I do enjoy the PSX version. And King's Field 1 still is a good game, infact, some like it alot more then the 2nd. It's not my cup of tea exactly, but it is enjoyable. Was this guy smoking crack when he wrote all this jargon? Since when is Ys ONLY about the music, what happened to the story, or the strategy of fighting the enemies, especially the bosses. For me, it's mainly the story & music. This guy needs a whuppin!

As I was reading I got the idea that he is now a mainstream gamer, he's got his X-box with all those "cool" games, who look great but there is totally NO gameplay (except Ninja Gaiden, the only game where I would buy an x-box for). He probebly sold his PS2 the second the x-box came out because it has better grafics. those idiots do excist and we had old school/hard core gamers should elimate them.

I like systems with loads of great games, great graphics is nice, but, I always want better games, right now, for me anyways, the PS2 is the best we have of current consoles, with Game Cube 2nd, & Xbox far away 3rd, with there being only a few games on it I'd consider, like Knights of the Old Republic. Thought I was gonna say Halo didn'tcha, no, that series doesn't impress me, so because people hype it more then it's worth, it makes me look down upon it, like people are blind, it's just average to me, bleh!

Except that you can play Knights of the Old Republic and Halo on PC, so they aren't X-box exclusive either. But X-box DOES have some exclusive games I wish I could play, like Ninja Gaiden or Panzer Dragoon Orta.

Yeah, Panzer Dragoon Orta looks nice, never really did have an interest in the Ninja Gaiden, I just like the original series better. I wouldn't mind Shenmue 2, I already have the Euro version for DC, but, it'd be nice to have the VA'ing.......then again, I don't recall the first Shenmue's VA'ing being very good. "Hey mister"! *shudder*

The battle system in Ys hasn't aged too well, but i wouldn't call it a boring game, if you like old games. Any mainstream gamer would hate it. Then again 1up has always sucked.

Want an example on how 1up is horrible? Go to the EGM board. I've been in and out of that community back when it was on gamers.com.
Anyway EGM's first top 100 of all time had Ys books 1 and 2, Turbo CD version, at number 38.

Oviously we all disagree with 1up's decision of Ys being a boring game. 1up needs to realize that Ys book 1 and 2 really set the standard for playing a videogame with excellent CD audio elements, that no other game before it accomplished as well as Ys did. Ys would get my vote for having the best gaming soundtrack ever. For me, I dont like the turn based RPG games. I hate how your just walking with the character and all of a sudden your game swithces to a battle scene with enemies you didnt even see in the first place. Being able to see the enemies at all times is a great advantage that Ys has in comparison to say final fantasy and other RPG turn based games similiar to final fantasy.
