So, which title do you like the most? I can't decide which one to use. Anyway, since Ys: Crimson Tears was a complete disaster, I decided to start over. With a new, albeit very similiar background story. If you read the old one, you'll find this one very familiar.
After his adventures in Canaan, Adol returned to Selceta, to travel west, to the land of Fendros. A land which he had heard many stories about when he was younger - stories, that made him want to go there.
When he was walking through a very wide mountain pass, much like a field, suddenly, the sky turned dark, lava started bursting out of the ground, and he could see hundreds of people running towards him, carrying all sorts of weapons, screaming towards him. When he was about to turn back to run, he saw a strange creature standing behind him. It was a short creature, with red, glowing eyes. All of a sudden, the creature jumped towards Adol, and bit him in the neck, it was a chilling feeling, as if he had been struck by ice magic. The blood running from his neck reached the ground, and suddenly, all was gone - the creature, the people, the lava, and the sudden darkness vanished. All was back to normal. But Adol's wound on his neck was still there, and an old man was standing in front of him. Adol passed out.
Three days later, he woke up in a bed in a small house, a young woman was looking down at him - "he's waking up!" she said. The old man from before walked to the bed "so, you finally woke up" he said, "we thought you were a goner". "You have been asleep for three days", the girl said. Adol discovered that all his equipment was gone. "You were so heavy, I couldn't carry you all the way here while you were carrying all that equipment", the man said. "It's no use to go back and look for it - the villagers have surely already taken it all, they're greedy people, I tell you".
Adol stepped out of the bed, feeling a bit dizzy. He noticed the wound on his neck. "You were bitten by a Goln, and I am afraid I have some bad news for you". The man told him about the Goln, that they are legendary creatures, known for confusing people with illusions, then giving them a curse, that is impossible to remove. "They all die", he said. "Everybody who's gotten bitten by a Goln has died, I'm so sorry."
Adol was speechless, "but there is a way", he said - "if you encounter the Goln, the same one that bit you, and kill it, you will be cured if you drink its blood. Golns are, however, incredibly dangerous creatures, and they only show up a few times after cursing a person, only to mock them - before they die. But you look like a good swordsman, maybe you can take him on, if you see him again."
"Here, take this sword - I guess I more or less owe you one, since I left yours behind, it's not very good, but it's better than nothing."
Adol left the small house, and as soon as he closed the doors, the dark sky reappeared, as well as the lava from the ground - there, floating in the air a over a small river, the Goln was floating, grinning at Adol. "You filthy scum!" Adol yelled and jumped towards the Goln, with his sword in hand. With a loud shriek, the Goln fell down into the cold water, it's blue blood colored the water in a strange silvery color. The lava and the dark sky vanished.
Panting in fury, and relief, Adol sat down on the ground. Shortly after, the old man went out of the house - "NOOOO!!" He screamed! "This is terrible!". "All is doomed, there's nothing to do now!" Adol turned towards the old man, "The blood, it is now in our water - it is forever poisoned - now we will all die. Everybody that drinks of this water will be cursed - but now the Goln is dead, so we cannot kill it again in order to get free from the curse."
The old man covered his head in grief. Then suddenly, he said, "there is one way - the ancient goddess - Feenax!" "....But it's pointless, she hasn't been seen in 1600 years", "if only someone could retrieve those Crimson Wings - and fly to the Luminoth Shrine and purify the water, but it is hopeless, unless you can find them...."

History
Feenax - The Winged God
Long, long ago, there was a winged god wearing six enchanted wings - "The Crimson Wings". These wings are the only things that can purify the headwaters of "Fendros", for there is no other way to reach the headwater spring concealed within the "Luminoth Shrine" far, far away somewhere in the Roda Highlands. The Roda Highlands, where the first Roda Tree was grown - it is, however, long gone and now it is impossible to reach the highest parts of the area - without the Crimson Wings.
The wings dissapeared 1600 years ago upon the death of Feenax. With the incredibly powerful magic of the decendant of the Fact family - Quarl Fact, Feenax was killed. He took the wings away from Feenax's dead body and scattered them throughout the world, within magically sealed fortresses.
Quarl Fact's magic wasn't flawless, though - if one with a pure heart and soul were to collect the six wings, and use them, Feenax would be resurrected. Unfortunately, the same goes for evil - if one with a black soul and an evil heart would collect the wings, and use them, Quarl Fact would be resurrected. And on top of that, if Quarl Fact would be killed after his resurrection, Feenax would be vanish forever. If Quarl Fact were to be killed, the one who slain him would pass on the legacy of the Fact family.
History II
Feenax was the first one of the fabled "The Winged Ones". Feenax was a goddess, wearing six magical wings. With the power to slay any evil.
Quarl Fact was the first one in the Fact family - he was an evil god - the Devil, if you will, and he had the power to slay any good soul.
These two gods would be in perfect balance equally as powerful, until Quarl Fact discovered the Black Cleria - the material that would later be used to forge the Black Pearl - with it, he could change the balance in the world, and Feenax wouldn't stand a chance.
