Hi, I'm new to the board but Ys isn't new to me I was actually looking around for news on Ys VI and I found a release date for Ys ES in NA on gamefaqs.com for PS2. I want to know if this is true because I had read that Ys ES wasn't coming due to the lack of interest. But with gamefaqs.com posting the Oct 2004 release date... could it be true?? I never played Ys on the MSX but I played in on TurboCD (and comparing the screenshots... TCD is WWAAAY better ) and then I got a copy of Ys 1 & 2 for PC with an english patch and the PC ver is excellent. Anyway, could anyone get any confirmation or anymore info for Ys ES for PS2??

Hello Jo and welcome aboard! Hope you'll stay and enjoy this place!
Anyway, Digicube (distributor of Ys eternal story) went bankrupt after releasing Ys eternal story in Japan. So unless someone like Konami picks up the license (which seems very unlikely) we will probably not see any Ys eternal story games other than in the import stores.
The game is almost identical to Ys complete for PC, though. And thanks to Nightwolves' pathces, we can enjoy them in english!

ugh that sucks... then I wonder why gamefaqs.com has a release date... it has Falcom as the listed distributor... www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/data/35082.htmlI'll keep my hopes up... I'm still waiting for NightWolve to finish Ys II translation. Thanks for the welcome. I've actually been looking for a site like this for a while. Glad I found it

Yeah, I've spoken with Nightwolve, he WILL finish the translation, he just doesn't know when.
Quoted from Nightwolve:
"whenever i get the translated text i will"
Yes. I checked that. Very strange. Falcom themselves have never distributed a US release....

Actually the reason it's not coming out in the US is because Sony rejected it. Sony seems to have a problem old school looking games coming out on PS2. Ys Eternal Story, was blocked, along with Metal Slug 3, and King of Fighters just to name a few. Working Designs had to fight with Sony to get Growlanser Generations released, and from I hear Sony is now blocking the Sega Ages remakes, I don't know how reliable that last one is, but I wouldn't doubt it. There is good Ys news though. Ys VI for PS2 has release date in the US. Right now it's February 8th. www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/243904.asp

Yeah. That sucks. Though, I always wonder how those old Atari compilations get released. American corporations can be soooo ignorant when it comes to games and gamers... especially Japanese games...

Ebgames has 'Xs Ark of Napishtim' They can't even get the title right!! Damn... $49.99US for it... but I'll eventually get it. I personally don't think video games are worth more then $40 but I hope this one is worth it. Um... I think PS2 have some great games. I mean Ratchet and Clank (I only have the first) series is really cool but most company are moving away from the old, classic style and going in 3D. I think that's just a mistake. Some 2D games are the best... Ys for example. And I'm really happy that they have R-Type Final for PS2. I bought and I'm loving every minute of it. So, it's Sony's fault eh? lol Then I REALLY wonder why gamefaqs have a date. Maybe we'll have to wait and see...

Hey, could anyone confirm this at all?? boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=35082&topic=13873984it's a rumour but does it have any grounds? And couldn't Sony do a limited release for of thing? Like only releasing about 10 000 copy of Ys Eternal Story in NA. They wouldn't have to do huge advertising. And they can put a lower price tag on it...

Well, the excuse is that those are collections, but I don't believe it, because so is Ys 1&2. The real reason is that Sony only bullies around the small companies. Namco could put out all their classic collections as long as they keep pumping out games like Tekken. Square put out a bunch of Final Fantasy collections with graphics alot worse than Ys 1&2. Ys VI is probably the best example. If Digicube were still porting it, Sony would've probably blocked it, but they don't want to anger Konami, and make them take the Metal Gear series elsewhere.
I noticed you're new to gamefaqs as well. That release date has been there for a long time, they just keep pushing it back. It's probably something CJayC forgot to take out.

I think they think it is called "Xs", because, if you're REALLY blind, it almost looks like a X. Take a look: Well, almost anyway. He he.
