You live in Swedonia, they eat rocks and moss there. You wouldn't know good food if it beat you up and stole your plate of moss =[

Justinzero is educatiomal! Next up: What is the deal with Poutine, and why the hell doesn't it exist in United Statesia? Its not even popular in western Canada ether. Its really good though, I mean it looks like barf but it sure tastes good. Its another Quebec thing. I guess to put it in perspective, Quebec is a culture within a culture sort of like the "southern state american" ex Alabama/Louisiana stuff.

You'd be surprised. If you don't mind the knowledge it is contributing whole percentage points toward your heard stopping, they are tasty as the fuck. Kinda hard to find outside of county fairs and permanent trading posts, though. Although I hear the tend to be a menu item in Scotland.

I'm also not a huge fan of cheese. Burn the unbeliever. =[ I loves me some cheese, but it has become a point of contention between Stimpson and myself. I'll break open a bag of cheese when making pizza, and deeply inhale the dairy goodness. Stimpson, on the other hand, believes that cheese and booty share a similiar olfactory spectrum. Then I have to push her down the stairs.

I'm also not a huge fan of cheese. Burn the unbeliever. =[ For real! >:O Cheese is awesome! My fave is La Vache qui Rit! Ha. We keep the French title on our packages and the US just calls it "The Laughing Cow" on theirs (http://www.thelaughingcow.com/). Seriously though, sometimes, I wish they'd just drop this whole bit with the dual official languages. (Yeah, yeah. I know it has to do with history.) Quebec might as well be another country since I think a huge chunk of Canada doesn't even speak French. Good lord. These lists about the most common languages in the world vary between one another. Well, at least it's consistent that Chinese and English are at the top. :P

This thread is getting scary. At least moss is healthier than gunks of grease fried in more grease.

Oh Seldane.
Nunuu! Or Justin! Teach me about the major canadian political parties! I really don't know anything about them. =[
Also, how much do Canadian schools teach you about US history? Because in our classes, Canada was pretty much a footnote of border clashes. (The war of 1812 is, of course, accredited to the British)

Because in our classes, Canada was pretty much a footnote of border clashes. (The war of 1812 is, of course, accredited to the British) We learn quite alot actually. I remember its not crazy about dates and details on some people but the general idea as to how America came to be, the 13 colonies, the civil war, Presidents pertaining to era, all that stuff. Our stories are very similar but there have been somewhat different outcomes. Its that premise that is taught mostly, and because like I have said many times now, Canadian culture is VERY intermingled with American. My woman is from Arizona, and we both come from the same backgrounds. As for political parties we have the NDP - Very left wing Liberal - Left wing....but close to the middle Conservative Party - Right wing (currently running the show here) Bloc Qebecois' - I think they are more left but not sure. Its the voice of the "nordique" or whatever. Green Party - Hippies.... with suits...and jobs... kinda There are independent seats also, but I don't think any are used right now. That list only pertains to the federal government level. We also have "Senators" but we call them "Premiers". The parties are basically the same, yet things are a little different in Quebec (are you noticing a pattern here yet?") To sum things up: Canadian Gov't is a mix of American and British parliamentary systems. Fin (Disclaimer: I have not been in High School for over 9 years now.... I could be "rusty")

Actually, the Conservatives are the minority power, as they don't hold a majority in parliament. That's why I asked about what a minority government meant. Although, I'm pretty sure that with five major parties, a minority government is probably a fairly common thing.

It is and it isnt. They still hold a ton of sway, but if the other 4 parties rally things can be overturned. The liberals have been in power the most over the last century. They are a little more left then the democrats but more right than the NDP. The NDP is a little too "social" to ever gain a strong following. Really the race is between the Liberals and the Conservatives. Honestly I cannot recall any time that the NDP has been in power. Provincially it has happend but not on a national level.

So the next question is what is it going to take to get a revote and get the republicans out and the liberals back in. Was a much better country when the liberals were in power.

Minority gov'ts dont last long because its easier for the other parties to rally and call an election. The Liberal Party will get in again next term I am sure, there is no scandal this time haha.
