Howdy all, I guess it's a good custom to write a small introduction when you join a new board, so I will! I've been a huge Ys fan from the first hour, started playing the MSX version of Ancient Ys Vanished Omen in 1987 and when Ancient Ys Vanished the Final Chapter was released....man I never got that excited because of a new game ever again I have to admit both were pirated copies...I did buy the original games years later so now I own Ys 1-3 for MSX and Ys Eternal (and Dragonslayer III, IV and VI for MSX). Anyway, I am really really old (30) and live in the Netherlands, just like the moderator I noticed (and evulopah) Games like Ys, Metal Gear and Final Fantasy (all 1987) were part responsible for me wanting to make games myself. I worked on three MSX games in the early nineties, one of them even sold in Japan! I also like to rearrange old videogame music, of course including Ys. With some friends I made four musicdisks for MSX and one Audio CD. You can read up about that at www.generation-msx.nl/arranger Today I still make music since I love it, and I am a profesional game developer (worked on MSX, SNES, GBC, GBA, Playstation and now Playstation portable). We even discussed with Falcom about getting Ys Eternal to Europe (we could do the translation) but no European publisher was interested Well, I guess that's it...I think my participation on this forum will mostly be about music, but feel free to talk to me about anything!

It still amazes me of how many Ys fans from the Netherlands there is. There's at least five of you here now. Probably more, but there are five active members (I think).
(A question: Might you be that Falcom Classics guy?)
Do you know Evulopah?
Anyway, welcome and I hope you'll have a good time here!
See you on the boards!

I'm not the Falcom classics guy, since I haven't got a clue what you are talking about. I don't know Evulopah personally but I *think* I know him from several other boards. How many people are likely to have that nick anyway

At last here's someone else who has started playing Ys on the legendary MSX! Welcome to the boards, MrRudi!
Could you tell us a little more about yourself, please? I'm intrested to know about those games you've been worked on in the early nineties.
Edit: Btw, greetings from Jorito. Well on MSX: DIX - MSX Engine - 1992: some in-game graphics, 'figure' design and testing (Tetris clone) DASS - MSX Engine - 1993: most in-game graphics and sprites (shoot 'em up) Pixess - Compjoetania - 1993: in-game graphics and level design (puzzle game like Eggerland Mystery)

As I said we already talked with Falcom once to do a European version of Ys Eternal, but the European PC market does not want these type of games. A console version would have been great but now Konami bought the rights of Ys. We are thinking about Legend of Heroes IV now

I suppose so, although both DIX and DASS had binary copy protections - I am sure they are hacked by now. You might want to check the \pub section of ftp.funet.fi to see if they are listed under the MSX games.

DASS was sold in Japan, in the (then) legendary Takeru machines.
