Mad TV peaked with Kenny Rogers Jackass, and Kenny Rogers on Fear Factor. There was just nowhere else to go after that. =[
SNL died in the 90's sometime. Probably after Farley left.

Chris Farley was a funny dood. In Billy Madison.
And other movies.
He was an idiot though. Drugs are bad, dudes. Bad!

saturday night live was never the same after phil hartman died, dana carvy left and adam sandler left. seems that 93 to 94 when hartman was murdered by his wife the show went to shit.

Man he was a funny dude too. I really liked him in Jingle all the Way (One of my all time favorite Arnie movies!!!) and his work on the Simpsons was great. I should Wikipedia him, because I never knew the whole story into his death, and I would like to find some of his other works.
Chris Rock, was great too, Bill Murray, 90's Will Ferral (His stuff now is getting really, really stale), man I could go on forever. SNL used to be really good. Bah it has to get crappy before it gets good again I suppose, and I am really looking forward to the 2010's being a good set of years. I loved the 90's big time, and that whole decade was a major backlash to the flashy pop culture of the 80's. IMO we went through it again in the 2000's so I am really hoping for a repeat.

Its great here in Calgary, because one of our local stations plays 70's and 80's eps of SNL really late at night sometimes. Its great seeing that stuff still, and I think thats mabey why I have such discontent with the new SNL.

Haha, I too like old 80's movies with Chevy Chase, Bill Murray and Dan Ackroid. It's a little embarrassing, as I seem to be the only one that does. My friends like to mock me for this.

So we're talking about web comics in the 2008 convention thread and a ponder came to me:
Why do people like that dinosaur comic where it's just the same 2 dinosaurs in the same freakin' poses in each strip? All that changes is the dialogue and it's not even funny.

Well, yes, the dialogue is the attraction! And I find it terribly funny! T-rex's personality (and surprising wit through relative stupidity) is delightful. But I do see why it's not quite for everyone!

I can name a number of occasions where it has made me laugh aloud! Or times where I thought, "Oh, T-Rex, you're so right! You don't even know how right you are!"
But I think you've known me long enough to know that I have quite the "special" brain!

But I think you've known me long enough to know that I have quite the "special" brain! Well, I think a lot of the folks I know have special brains. I believe Pipps and Shaz both like the comic too. And Achewood. Me, I read the San Three Kingdoms comic but even that one's gone kind of ... strange. There is way too much poorly done gay humour now. :/

I think Pipps and I have talked about it before! And I totally believe that Shaz gets it too. MAYBE YOU SHOULD GROW A SENSE OF HUMOR! > I have never read this San Three Kingdoms comic you speak of, but I do know that the only kind of gay humor that's good is the kind that's not funny at all but instead is intensely passionate with men hugging and kissing each other RIGHT ON THE MOUTH

I was under the impression that it was terribly difficult to get drugs in Japan and if you could the consequences for being caught are super-severe. Am I wrong?

All that changes is the dialogue and it's not even funny. Yeah, when I first saw that. I thought that it might be funny, because it's the same pictures every time, but after reading some of them, I noticed that they're completely devoid of.... funny. Really bad comic. Although, maybe I'm not one to speak. Because I don't actually like comics in the first place. It can be funny sometimes I guess, but I never read any. Especially not web comics.

I want to see this Dinosaur comic. Want to see this San Three Kingdoms comic too! I think the only web comics I follow are very delibrately not funny. They're proper, proper stories. (Web graphic novels?) I loved the xkcd comic though when I came across it through wyrdwad's links. That was one of the funniest ever!
