I think culturally its very frowned upon (Drugs) in Japan, for example, there was a band in, L'Arc en Ciel, that did a song for a Ruroni Kenshin opening. The opening was only played in 4 eps because the band had been arrested on drug charges.

See, that policy's all fine and good as long as you have a public transportation system that runs long after last call. The MBTA stops running well before 2 every night, leaving many a drunk to the mercy of terribly expensive cabs. In places with no public transportation, that becomes even more problematic because police apparently frown upon people sleeping in the cars in parking lots overnight, even if it meant not driving home drunk! That whole designated driver thing is a good idea but it's terribly idealistic considering how much fun it is to be the only sober person in the middle of a great time. I have a lot of opinions about this.
