Wow, some entertaining stuff here as we are intelligent enough to use the internet to begin with, I strongly believe we are all old enough to know the difference between right and wrong, and how to treat and respect one-another Nice rose colored glasses you got there. -ud

Do you know of anyone who doesn't know the difference between right and wrong, or someone who doesn't know how to be respectful? There's a difference between knowing it, and keeping it in good practice, as far as I'm concerned. As I'm completely aware, not everyone is respectful -- but they know how to be respectful. If they are intelligent enough to use a computer, they are beyond the age of innocence, with few exceptions -- in which case they shouldn't even have a keyboard, let alone a computer.
This isn't about having unrealistic expectations, this is about general rules and guidelines, street smarts, common knowledge, what people inherently know and learn as they grow up. It's fairly simple, misbehavior leads to discipline. It doesn't matter if you're in daycare, in school, at work, in public, or online -- you are required to be respectful in this world. Granted you're not required to be respectful on XBLA, or during some online games where the rules simply aren't enforced, this isn't a game. This is a place where people come to blow off steam after work, where people want to talk about Ys and various random topics, where people want to simply relax and have fun -- and if people aren't going to respect that, then it *will* be enforced.
If this is me wearing rose colored glasses, then I'm talking to pixies in Candyland. Surely then, enforcement is all roses, rainbows, and cotton-candy clouds with lollipop trees and blades of fruit roll-ups.

Surely then, enforcement is all roses, rainbows, and cotton-candy clouds with lollipop trees and blades of fruit roll-ups. Sounds like how a lot of people envisage Diablo III turning out to be... Everyone understands where Soze is coming from, it's pretty well anticipated! It's your own fault for making such awesome translations in the first place. And I'm quite happy that it's quietly happening in the background, I think I'd get waaay too excited if I kept seeing cool updates! Although I do admit I enjoyed a little bit of that banter though keeps everybody's energy up when it is quiet!!

Well I have something to say...: "Ahem" Keep it up with the translation patch! You guys are cool for translating such a great game and somehow you guys have also inspired me into studying Japanese, it's tough but I'm willing to learn it, anyways, nice going there with this project; as for the fans... Just wait, there are other games out there to kill time or other languages to learn or music instruments to play, I don't know just do something in the meantime and before you know It, it'll be released.

Playing Ys Seven made me miss this game something fierce, so I popped my CD back in (after gazing lovingly through the art book again, of course!), fired up Applocale, and got the beast going again. I gawked when I saw my last save was from 2007! Doesn't feel like that long ago...
Played with some Arena mode with the Claw, and was plain out floored that I forgot how much fun this game is! It's a true testament to a game that people can enjoy it without being able to understand the language. I think I'm going to have to play through this one again when I finish with Seven!

Ironically, this is supposed to be the Ys game where not understanding what's going on would have the largest effect on your enjoyment since it's more focused on story and well-written than the other games in the series.

Well if they put more effort into coming up with an exciting story and crafting a well-written script than they do in the other games, doesn't that mean they focused more on the story than the other Ys games do?

I beat it 8 times without reading a single word, and it's still my favorite of the PC games. Guess that says a lot about both the game and myself.
One very disappointing note, though: I have my game disc, but I CAN'T FIND MY FREAKING CASE, ARTBOOK, AND OST! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

and it has probably THE best boss battles in the entire series Too true! I remember gawking the first time I faced that mantis boss on Yunica, and how elated I was at successfully defeating it. When I did a boss rush last night and got to the mantis again I thought "well, it was a good run", yet still managed to pull away with 60ish health. Even with the language barrier the story is still well presented (although I got a lot of help from this site when I originally played through). I imagine experiencing it in my native tongue will be quite enjoyable, and look forward to the day this opportunity wil be available!

In some ways not being able to read any of the story makes the game a little more arcade actiony and lets you overlook the silliness that the entire thing happens in the Darm Tower Seriously there's a fire area, an underwater area, a desert area all in a single tower. Somebody's having problems with their HVAC system

I just want to know where all the water, lava and sand went in the seven centuries between Yunica and Hugo's visit and Adol's. Seriously, did Darm get bored and decide to redecorate?

No, Darm really got bored and decided to redecorate. A descendant of one of the Priests came in and did the tower in Pink. Not tasteful at all. And I mean the musical artist, Pink.

You can play the game on Windows 7. Either buy the Vista version to have it work out of the box or manually copy the YS0_WIN folder over to C:\FALCOM to get around Win 7 sticking your files somewhere the game doesn't expect during install. Also, you'll need to either use Applocale or set your system language to Japanese if you don't want the game to crash as soon as it starts displaying text.

Honestly, how many times must you be told no before you understand it?

I wasn't angry, I was just expressing my wonderment over the fact that he has to ask despite the answer being all over the place, and basically having been told himself, too.
