I like Simpsons just a tiny bit better just because it has more episodes

I dunno if I'm missing something but whenever I compare them, Family Guy seems painfully unfunny while the Simpsons seems like pure genius. FG seems to have very little intelligence, there aren't all those subtle references the Simpsons is packed with. Maybe I'm being a bit over-intellectual though...

I take Simpsons and Family Guy, I think Family Guy is funnier, I got the first 3 seasons of all those shows (Futurama, Family Guy, Simpsons, South Park), true enough Simpsons have more subtle references, and Family Guy has like NONE! , but I know all those shows and movies they make fun off in Family Guy so that's why it better, or so I think. Luckely there is a new season of Family Guy comming to FOX tv.

I know The Simpsons contains several references from all sorts of things, but saying Family Guy doesn't is not true. Every episode contains at least one reference / parody. There are, for example, several parodies of most shows, for example Seinfeld. He's even on the plane saying "why are there razorblades on the planes, I mean, who shaves on a plane anyway?". He does, in fact, say the exact same thing in one Seinfeld episode.
By the way, I used to dislike Family Guy and thinking it was just a bad rip off of the Simpsons, but later I discovered that it's not a mere rip off, it's a truly amazing show and I think it's a lot better than The Simpsons (which is getting REALLY bad, by the way. Season 15 was awful!)

Have any of you seen American Dad yet? (from the creators of Family Guy) it only has had it's pilot episode so far, the season will start 1st of May 2005. I thought it was funny but even more weird and twisted then Family Guy. lot of anti-Bush references though

The Simpsons went down the tubes (they weer best back in the day of the Tracy Ulman Show) and yet it just keeps dragging on, someone needs to shoot the guys at fox for beating that dead horse. I loved Futurama, I watched it all the time till it got canned. Same with Family Guy, but some of the episodes were just a little too much. Stewart and Brian made that show. Meg, Louis and Chris were alright, and I found Peter annoying about half the time, humorous the other half. After Futurama and Family Guy got taken off the air I stopped watching near everything save the SCI-FI channel (Stargates, Battlestar).

Family Guy humour reminds me of when Krusty makes a joke and then tries to get a laugh by pointing out the obvious over and over again. Sometimes funny, usually just dumb. In other words, I like the Simpsons a whole lot more.

While I never had any problem with the Simpsons, it has never made me laugh as hard as Family Guy has. The new episodes have even more 80's references too. Seth MacFarlane must definitely be a fan of 80's pop culture. Some of the new episodes of both shows are getting weirder it seems.

Season four of Family Guy surely is a lot better than 1-3. They probably worked a lot on ideas during that break since 2002.

Yes, I have watched every episode of American Dad so far. I like it too, but it still doesn't make me laugh as much as Family Guy. Perhaps this can now be a Simpsons vs. Family Guy vs. American Dad thread?

Forget these two shows. Futurama has both of these beat. But if I had to choose. Family Guy.

I remembered voting for Family Guy just because The Simpsons is getting rusty in jokes.
But I don't see them as many times as a Pokemon episode.
I'll wait and see if Family Guy follows the same footsteps as The Simpsons.

Personally, I find Futurama highly overrated (even though it wasn't that popular, he he), while Family Guy is highly underrated. I am glad they cancelled Futurama, they'd better spend time making The Simpsons episodes.
American Dad is pretty good, but it can't compare to Family Guy. Seth McFarlane is a genius. He has made the following tv series: (I just enjoy Family Guy and American Dad of all these however.)
"American Dad!" "Family Guy" "Johnny Bravo" "Cow and Chicken" "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" "Jungle Cubs" "Dexter's Laboratory" "Shnookums and Meat Funny Cartoon Show"

It seems like as they move along in the season, which is almost complete, the Family Guy episodes are getting even better. I can't wait to see what lies ahead. It's going to be very hard to top what they've accomplished so far.
