Rubis is happy that you'd go gay for him, 'Gene. <3 Well, it wouldn't take much work, at least. I'm pretty sure I'd hit turbanbro, too. THE MUTAGENE DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE! ALL ARE FONDLED!

Oooh, Kimimi! That's really pretty. Have you a larger version? (Or will you?) I'd love to see the details on that. That's as big as it gets, it was just meant to be a quick sketch while I'm getting the hang of things. They are really pretty though so I'm sure I'll draw another FFXI Pixie soon

Been working on a model for the past few weeks, and it's finally coming together. I just worry he'll need a stand to balance properly since he's a bit tilted backwards due to slightly crooked molding. I've done more work, but these are the most recent pics. BEHOLD, LEGS. Front Back Also my messy apartment. While I'm at it, some more old art I feel is worth posting as a buffer until I have time to draw new stuff. Mugshots of a friends characters: Another of his characters Succubus character for the story I'm writing Another colored pic, a different friends character

Kimimi, I really like your Dragonfly-esque Pixie drawing. Very unique and I enjoy your use of blending colors. : ) I just finished the main Shantae graphic for a Shantae tribute site I'm working on. Next step is to make it interactive and to start drawing vector layers for the navigation flash I'm working on here: shantae.net/shantae_flash_test.htmlNow if I could only get the town layer movie clip to loop indefinitely, then I'd be set! Sometimes I really wish I was better at actionscript... -Thomas

I can't really take any credit for the pixie, the design is Square-Enix's after all How do you get such clean and smooth lines on your vector art? I've had a go, but I can't get it looking at crisp as that! *jealous*

May I join ye all in celebrating that 'I got a tablet! !'? X'D Though I suppose, unlike all of ye guys, I haven't really 'gotten'. As in, don't really own it. X'D I got asked to illustrate two books, and with it, a free tablet has been dumped into me ever greedy hands, to use until the project lasts. And... oh mi. :'D This thing is actually so fun..... I want one of my own now! T___T~! Anyways! One is with a tablet for a month! *___* *spams badly drawn shaky linework stuff all over the world~!* ^ First random bad drawing attempt with a tablet! :'D This is kind of reminding me of me and DS Colors!~ X'D Feeling proud over super bad stuff simply because 'Yay! I was able to draw a line!' Also, super amazing stuff Spamus and SkyeWelse! Such neat lines~!!! I want to be able to draw like you guys digitally too~~~!!! So clean and crisp! :'D Or like Kimimi's! Such amazing colours~~~~~ *___*

I don't actually draw anything completely digitally, it's all done by hand. If I do color it digitally, it's just a digital tracing of the hand drawn work.

Oooh, the power of Yakra with a tablet equals prettiness. I like! However- I'm also in the 'draw it by hand on paper' camp who refuses to give up my scanner. I'm actually considering purchasing a tablet (as in, this weekend) but I mainly just want one to make digital coloring a little easier. I can't give up drawing on paper. ^^;

I still want a tablet because I am sure it would cure my fear of pencil and paper.
I should scan some of my giant smudges that I made while trying to draw something and continually erasing.

Been practising with my tablet - Wow! Fantastic job! It looks like a 3D model! Lumi, love the coloring on Arzalan. I'm extremely jealous! Excellent work finishing up the Shantae Skye! Spamus, awesome batch of new artwork you posted! Very nice characters there! Kimimi, your Panda is adorable! I've never tried drawing a Panda before. Yakra, congrats on the tablet, and what you've already done with it is AMAZING! Great job! I tried using a tablet once, and I was horrible. I do plan on getting one somewhere down the road, but it will be a long time. What I do now is pencil and ink by hand, scan and color digitally. If I'm using a cel-shading coloring style, I map out the shading first with pencil after inking the linework, then I outline everything I've just shaded with a thick pen. Then I erase all the pencil lines so everything is clean. When I color, I just click on the lines and fill in the areas, and create stopping points so the color doesn't spill onto an unwanted area. Here is a WIP from an earlier post where I have started mapping out the colors:

I've had a go, but I can't get it looking at crisp as that! *jealous* Still looks great though, regardless if the content is by Square-Enix. : ) The process I used for Shantae was entirely in photoshop using layers and the pen-tool. It's not entirely vector since I converted the pen-tool layers group-by-group into bitmap selections that were then filled using a specific color. I needed for some layers like her skin and metal pieces to be blended, so it made sense to me to have it be converted to bitmap layers for that reason. Hope that explains the process a bit better for you. : ) -Thomas

Yakra: Beautiful work as always! What sort of book are you illustrating? Gamemusicfreak: So that's how you do it! I think I'd need to re-wire my brain to do cel-style colouring, I'm to used to smudging paint everywhere SkyeWelse: Thank you for taking the time to explain, I'll have another go at some point wiht Paint Tool Sai (Photoshop is ever so slightly out of my price range )

Forgot to mention this earlier, sooo... Skye: Love the coloring job you did on that Shantae vector! It's very vibrant and clean. GMF: Thanks! Getting that golden hue to his skin and keeping it from blending with his hair took a little while of playing around and tweaking levels/curves on the layers, but I'm happy with it. Whee. Just finished this. The drawing is OLD (2007) now, but I've wanted to color this guy ever since I drew him. The lighting is a bit weird, but I had to do it to cover up some of the hideously dirty linework in the original, alas. :\ Don't mind the greenish hues; his hair should be silvery-white. Ah yes, and this is Kardan.

This is a bit of an old sketch, but it's also the first "ensemble" image I've doodled in years. Technically this is just a thumbnail. We had to design a poster as our final project in my Design Fundamentals class last year, and this was one of my (unused) ideas. Basically it's a cover image for one of the major plot arcs of one of the stories Cyhirae and I have going. Alas, this is now sort of null, because we're revising the plot in huge ways and some of the characters featured here (the hugging couple, specifically) have been cut from the cast. Been getting more ambitious with my art these days, so I may actually try to draw a real version using this concept sometime. Suggestions? Ideas?

The colours and sketchiness of it~~~ <3 If you ever do end up doing another like so, please do keep such colours?! It's reminding me of some great grand ancient sketch on parchments. X'D Really love the earlier too...! Also, I love how ye've drawn the transparency, Kimimi. I'm getting inspired! I want to try drawing and getting such results too! (Also, about your earlier question, super sorry for my incredibly late reply [T___T~] - it's a sort of children's workbook, aimed at educating village kids about some random rights in life and... teaching them how to read and write at the same time. X'D Oddly, they're designed like a graphic novel/comic though. :'D)
