(which Seldane dosen´t like the song because he has heard that song alot ). You should listen to them....ok

I agree. Opeth is a great band. What i like to know, however, is if anyone outside swden has ever heard about them (or in flames). (they are swedish deathmetal bands) ...and "black rose immortal" is one of the best songs they made, yes ...

Opeth is very known in Bulgaria (!) and the US. In flames is popular throughout the world.

Chesus! How can you listen to Death&Black and such. That sucks due to it's impossible to hear what they sing. They just screams "YUaaaaah! Nlanlalna, Hate you, bababa, go to hell! YAAAAHA!!!,, bararararabombom, Yakkhaar!!"
No, it should be Punk Metal, at least you CAN hear what they sing... By the way;
Why do all such who listen to such musik get long hair and headbangs? I mean, what's the POINT?
(not Joint, Point)

Perhaps you should listen to Opeth before you say anything like that. Because Opeth plays the exact - not that thing you're saying.

Good, sometimes great band. I like Deliverance the best, their other albums I tired of after awhile.

Opeth are very good. I prefer their three masterpieces:
Morningrise My Arms, Your Hearse Still Life
AND! I get to see them live with Dark Tranquillity in one month. Stoked, I am!

I agree with you, those are their best albums.
Funny you should mention that, Opeth played live on the radio yesterday (and Dark Tranquillity last week!), hehehe.
I've seen Opeth live once, they are awesome -- you'll have a good time.
Wow, this is one of the first threads on Ancient Land of Ys.

You guys kinda have me interested... what album would you recommend starting with, for someone who appreciates very heavy metal, but also prefers for that metal to be broken up by softer and more melodic segments and/or songs? I might have to check these guys out sometime. -Tom Oh, it definitely sounds like you would enjoy Opeth. A good start would be "Blackwater Park" or "Still Life", they are very "mixed."

Blackwater Park is an excellent starting point. Probably their most immediate album.

Opeth is good (listening to them right now). I like In Flames too, have their 2 most recent albums (Soundtrack to your Escape & Come Clarity), want to get their older stuff. Another good band that comes from Sweden is Soilwork, they sound kind of similar to In Flames. If you want to broaden the span to European bands rather than just Swedish then Lacuna Coil is a great band from Italy. If anyone is wondering I am in America, just a music enthusiast so I have heard of practically everything.

I am a huge fan of Soilwork and I definitely like Lacuna Coil a lot too. I HIGHLY recommend Disarmonia Mundi -- they're also from Italy. Their first album kind of reminds me of Opeth, but is more ... "thrash/heavy metal"-ish. Their second album is completely different, and sounds more like Soilwork -- and hear this -- Björn "Speed" Strid (Soilwork's vocalist) is behind the vocals on that album!

I've never heard of either Who would be a good comparison to their style of music? If its anything like Linkin Park, I'm definately game to check em out.
