Hi, My name is Jamie and I am a big fan of Ys. My first encounter with the game was back in 1992 when I bought a Super NES system. I rented Ys III from the video store here. To be honest the game was ok but I didn't think much of it. I didn't get very far in it either. Then later that same year I bought a Sega Genesis system and rented Ys III for that system, which I seemed to like better. I remember the music on the Super NES version was very nasal and virging on annoying but the tunes themselves were pretty good. The Genesis version I liked a lot better, though. Finally in 1993 I bought a Turbo Duo system which came with Ys book I & II as a pack-in game. You talk about jaw dropping music and neurotically obsessive gameplay! Since then I have acquired Ys III for the Turbo, which also has fantastic music scores. I also bought Ys IV The Dawn of Ys, which I am dying to play, but I cannot read a single japanese character Anyway sorry to be so long winded but I stumbled on these forums and thought it was pretty nice that there are other Ys fanatics out there! -Jamie

Hello Jamie and welcome! I agree with you that the Genesis version of YsIII is better. It's actually my favorite version of YsIII. Well, it's great to have you here and I hope you'll have fun!
Take care, Seldane

Hi Jamie... this is an odd question... Jamie male or Jamie female? I think there's a Ys 4 translation coming... Are you like the rest of us who don't have Ys 6 yet and itching to get it when it's out in Feb??

Seldane: Thank you for the welcome, glad to be here :-)
CrazyJo82: I'm male, and I'm waiting for Ys 6 for the PS2. In fact I recently purchased a PS2 for that reason. Strange looking system, reminds me of a very thin and square-ish Turbo Duo, but doesn't feel as sturdy as the Duo.

Oh... so you got what i called the "Someone stepped on the Ps2" system, eh? I dont even know why Sony decided to shrink the size... I personally like the old look (which I have - version 10). At least the darn thing comes with the ethernet. I actually bought mine because I thought Ys Eternal Story would come to the states I also bought it for DDR but now I found a bunch of neat games to play. I recommend Ratchet and Clank! hee hee

Welcome to the forum!
sometime soon I'll also buy the small PS2, so that I can play japanese games on the PS2 (you need a flip cover for that).
