Executive Producer, I believe, watches over the project and makes sure that everything is to his/her liking. S/he also offers critical, constructive advice "you may have done it this way, but I'd like to see things done that way..." Shigesato Itoi was that way too. Not only having written Mother 3's story, but making sure that the execution of the graphics, audio, gameplay, scenario and programming, all the way down to how much time is spent between delicate, important details of dialogue, fading in and out. More or less, that'd be the head honcho, the guy that pulls the strings and makes the people do what he wants them to. Otherwise, there is no "one" game maker. It's a team, composed of graphics artists, scenario, writers, programmers, composers, etc. working together to make a single project down to the last pixel, beep and blip. I call that harmony. I could also be making shit up and pretending that I'm some sort of know-it-all, too. I may have the title/profession wrong.

Well yeah, you wouldn't want them to be like Nintendo whom just make sequels every few years. New games sound like a very good idea..... as long as it is something completely new and original, which looks kinda hard lately since so many names and ideas have already been taken. (I don't know what I am talking about, but in the long run it means more games

Well thinking it that way, does it mean then that people back then had more balls than what they do today?

Also... Legacy of Ys? Am I forgetting something, or is that only the name of a fansite? nope, Ys Legacy is the combined box set of the Ys anime OVA's. Seperatly they are called: Ys Book I and Ys Book II I guess that's where Legacy comes from.

Have they ever tried making a couple of games at once to try it out?
I really like the Ys OVA's, I wished they made more.

Originality is not all that hard. Games haven't even come CLOSE to doing everything there is to do. The reason originality is so lacking in games these days is because games have now become big business, and no big business can afford to take risks unless they're virtually guaranteed to be successful. Sad but true! -Tom But why does it seem as if Treasure is invulnerable to the common process of producing a game. I mean some of their games are not my favorite, but they are all really "individuals" in their own right. Even the sequels are vastly different from their counterparts. I know people bag on Treasure sometimes, but they are seriously one of my all time favorite companies. This is due to their quirky style, which has no face or standard. I also love how original their games are, and its always a new experience to play a new Treasure title. If they can do it, I just can't figure out why other companies have a hard time with it.

Whose Treasure, and what kind of Games do they make ? Also I went to the mall to get the new castlevania game and browsed threw some other DS games. One of them was Kage 2 or something but what was odd about it was that under the Taito Logo it says a Square-Enix company......is Taito owned by Square?

I though Nintendo owned Sega. I think the only good games I could think of that were any good from Taito were Darius and Bust a move. Kinda odd that Square bought them off though. I pronounce it something like Gladius or Gradius.

Well aren't most of there games now are on the Nintendo, so I presume that Nintendo won the fight, of course they had games on other systems.

I think the only reason they focus on Nintendo consoles is because that's where the moneys are. I wonder if maybe there's a bit of an overlap in target audience as well, seeing as there tend to be parallels in the type of games they make (Mario and Sonic, and ah... um... okay, just Mario and Sonic.)

Yep. Square tried to buy out Tecmo, but Tecmo was like "dude, no" and merged with Koei instead... so they settled for Taito. It was funny. -Tom Actually, they got owned by S-E back in 2005, that was way before the thing with Tecmo, which happened this year. Thankfully, S-E doesn't seem to be effecting their games, though... they're just publishing for them. The only game I have so far with both their names on it is Space Invaders Extreme. VERY awesome game. I'm thinking of getting Kage 2 as well.

Sega may have stopped making consoles, and lost the "war" but the Dreamcast is still better than any of the 3 consoles on the market today.
This sucks... I miss Sega, and they were in their prime with the DC.
