So far I have played all the Ys games on the PC and now I am thinking if it is possible to play Ys4 and Ys5 on pc too with pcsx2?? Ys6 was playable so far and according to the screenshots Ys6, Ys4 and Ys5 seem to use similar programming and design styles and using mainly things that are easier to emulate on PC. Just my theory, but has anyone actually tried putting their Ys4 and Ys5 discs on their PCs to see if it works?? Now if pcsx2 actually plays ys4 and ys5 on the PC then I am considering in buying ys4 and ys5 right away.
Why am I not buying a psx2 you might wonder? well timewise the psx3 is out but it is a bit pricy and plays games from previous playstations rendering the psx2 pretty pointless at this point.

What's a PSX2? Or a PSX3 for that matter? I've never heard those terms before.

It's due to getting used to spell Playstation 1 as PSX ( which is as common as spelling Nintendo as NES ). As far as I know, I have no clue but you can always try.

But PSX is just another model of PS2. There's no such thing as PSX2 or PSX3. The PlayStation (1) is known simply as PS or PS1. Here's a picture of the PSX: And to get on topic: Don't bother! Ys IV/V on PS2 are the worst games in video game history. If you manage to get them running, you'll regret it for the rest of your life! Those games still haunt my dreams every night (and usually during the day as well, even though I'm awake). I've said it before and I'm saying it again: THOSE GAMES AREN'T Ys!!

PSX is Playstation. It's not I' who decided it but everyone who has named it like that. It's the same as NES as someone were poking me about on MSN. NES is shortened as Nintendo Entertainment System - we could might as well shorten it as NIN ( but that would inflict with the shortening of Ninja ). But yeah.. PSX 2 do sound terrible ugly PSX sounds good for PS1 but, PSX2? Naa xD Oh? Are they not Ys even though they are named Ys? Then they must be crap!

No, PSX is PS2, it is the official name of that particular PS2 model, nobody can change that. The OFFICIAL PlayStation abbreviation is PS, that's the PlayStation logo that shows up every time you turn on the console. Where's the X?The code name for the PlayStation was PlayStation X, but this was in 1992 and that's also the same year they changed the name to PlayStation. I don't get why people started using it in the first place, and what's worse is that they're still using it. This is the stupidest thing to ever happen in the video game industry. The NES abbreviation makes a lot of sense as it stands for Nintendo Entertainment System. It's a HUGE difference. I don't know where you got "NIN" from - THAT doesn't make sense. Where's the X?

Sel, go google. PSX, see what you find.
I didn't make it up.. I just use it because everyone understands what your talking about when you say PSX - which reminds me.. What was the name of the Black Playstation which was made in Limited Edition that you used to create own games with?

Net Yaroze.
And I don't care about what other people say. PSX is that PS2 model and nothing else. That's Sony's official name for it. There's no X in the PlayStation name so I won't put it there myself.
I think I'll go play some Nin-X-tendo Gamecube X now.

I hate the fact that there are people who still call PS1 "PSX" to this day... it never, ever made sense at any point in the console's lifespan. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one irritated by this. It was ridiculous before, but made even more ridiculous when Sony actually released a PSX. Maybe if we all keep yelling at them, eventually it'll go away for good.

I'm not bothered. I've called the original Playstation a PSX since before it was released, when gaming mags also called it that. It's far too ingrained into my mind to ever change now.

To answer you question, no, PCSX2 does not play these games. Unless compatibility is listed on the website, it is to be assumed that it's non-functional.
