Hey, d00000000des, when you use a corded phone or one that you generally have to put the receiver face down onto the .... receiver holding thing, do you slam it down?
Soooooo many people do it at work. It's annoying! >_< They're not even mad! ARGH!
Dumb habits!
Me, I put it down as gently as possible. ^^~

I always press the hang up button that the phone rests on. It just clicks, and the person doesn't hear anything.

I have to break this habit too, as I tend to place it back on the receiver in a quick fashion. I don't worry about it when I press hold, and I tend to let the other person hang up first.

I never even pick up the home phone anymore, it's just stupid telemarketers all day.

No, because telephones are the devil and I don't even have a landline one.

I usually just let the phone down gently. If it's a telemarketer, I always play a game song and hold the phone up to the speakers until they hang up.

For a second I thought this topic was about cell phones and the evils they inflict in society, robbing people of all the basic manners and sense. X( But anyways, as for placing the telephone receiver down, like Justinzero, I too press the hang-up button first before placing it in it's cradle. Not because I fear I might bang it down and blast someone's eardrums out (I actually never ever even thought of that? I always figured the other person would be in the process of hanging up so shall never hear the closing click?), but because when I was a kid I had the bad experience of not really closing the phone, thinking that I had closed it! ....You know how when you've called someone and if you don't hang up, you end up blocking all the other person's calls...? I was guilty of that quite a few times. And then later received a call on the other phone consisting mainly of 'G@$#%#45hj!% close the phone ye ^&%476g**!!!! X( ' So! Hang up gently first, then replace receiver! I usually just let the phone down gently. If it's a telemarketer, I always play a game song and hold the phone up to the speakers until they hang up. I used to do that to crank callers who called me. But the last time I did that, the damned guy kept holding on for more than FIVE HOURS! D: ....When I finally came to pick up my phone from next to the speakers, I noticed the call was still going on, my cell phone's battery almost dead, and upon saying a test hello to see if the person was still truly there, I got a 'heheheheh.... darling!' in return. Mad people!

I never even pick up the home phone anymore, it's just stupid telemarketers all day. Ditto No, because telephones are the devil and I don't even have a landline one. Double Ditto I always wait for the other person to hang up first to make sure I have satisfied all of their questions/comments...however...I only really use the phone at work.

Telephones are the devil, but thanks to having dial-up all day, few calls ever get through at home.
But I don't slam 'em. At least not hard.

I have a larger problem with lifting it up to my ear too hard.
I made myself bleed at school on Friday because of that!

Maybe you shouldn't hit yourself in the head with things. It is bad for your health.

When using corded phones I always try to put down as gently as I can. I think most people on the other end wouldn't appreciate a loud bang in their ears. xp
