Hi. I really like these boards so I thought it was about time to stop just lurking around here and introduce myself.
My name is Fredrik and I'm a 25 year old Swedish gamer who's currently studying to become a train driver. A job that pays pretty well, is more exciting than you'd think and (most importantly) leaves you with quite a lot of spare time to do what you like.
Video games in general, and especially RPG:s, have been one of my main interests for nearly twenty years now. However my history with Ys is relatively short. I remember playing the Snes-version of Wanderers at a friends house back in the day but beyond that I was pretty much oblivious to the series. What got me back was the series music. Apart from playing games I'm also a huge fan of video game music. Especially music where strong melody is the main focus. Needless to say, Ys fits the bill pretty damn well. While searching for the music from Wanderers I stumbled upon Felghana, was blown away and the rest is history. Since then I've picked up and played through nearly all the games in the series (not all versions of I, II and III though...and waiting for V) while trying my best to, more or less, force the games on my friends. ^^
Anyway.. I'm happy to be here and I'm looking forward to talk about Ys and learn a bit more about what Falcom has to offer from you guys.
^_^

Welcome! I visited Sweden in 2007 for the Play! concert in Stockholm, and had a lot of fun. I did a lot of train riding, too. Game Music Rules!

Thanks. ^^
GMF: Play! was awesome. But the concert/party with Powerplay (NES cover band) later that night was even better imo. It's a shame they don't do Ys but they do a pretty great Faxanadu.

Oh.. it's nothing fancy at the moment I'm afraid. Ys Origin Ys I & II Complete Ys The Oath in Felghana Ys IV Dawn of Ys Ys VI The Ark of Napishtim
Haven't felt like I can afford buying a Turbo Duo just yet.. but at least owning the game makes me feel better about emulating it. ^^ I also found out, unfortunately too late, that the Japanese voices and anime cutscenes can't be unlocked in the PAL-version of VI. So now I own both that and the US-version.
Serious collecting will have to wait till I get a job. ^_~

Good to see you playing Alundra too. Oh yeah, I didn't notice it before. I second that. And I agree MP83, that collection is already awesome!

Yeah, I've been thinking about picking up Gurumin. Is the PSP port any good? I'd prefer to play the version I can understand. ^^

PSP is not as awesome. I'd give you my opinion but I haven't played much of the portable version. PC is the way to go! :3

Mmm, true. However I thought I'd pick up the port first, as it is pretty inexpensive, and play through that and if I like the game I'll probably get the PC-version next time I order from Falcom. Replaying a game I already know in Japanese is ok. That is unless the port is broken. I've played a few horrendous PSP ports. -_-

That is unless the port is broken. I've played a few horrendous PSP ports. . Erk! Were you trying to do a . _ . face? Tip: Make the underscore really long like this: .___________. XD! But go with what you're comfortable with getting/playing first! I'm sure Gurumin PSP is quite spiffy. ^-^ Actually, I wonder if I should sell mine since all it's doing is sitting around and collecting dust. I tend to use the UMD for any ISOs or CSOs that require a UMD to load though. XD

Well to be fair there are some neat mini game bonus's in the PSP Ys VI, but they are only worth the effort if your a big enough fan.
