You can tell I'm bored at work when I start asking random questions. :3
Well, it's actually something I pondered since the iPhone was announced yesterday. A few of my friends seem giddy about this new Apple gadget but I'm indifferent about it. I mean, it'd like to see it in action and hear how the reception quality is like, of course but it's not some OMG MUST BUY thing for me.
Oh yeah, I own both a 30 GB Video iPod and an iPod Shuffle (1st generation).

Man, I thought this was gonna get all philosophical.
I do not own an MP3 player because I am poor. I might consider one when I employed, less poor, have my bills and debts paid, and buy a new computer. Maybe.

Truthfully, I was originally looking for something that could play OGG files but the stick (Shuffle) looked neat so I got that. Besides, I'm a dork and actually buy songs off iTunes. >_>; But I have cursed Apple many a-time in the past in regards to iTunes and the Shuffle. :P

No. I can afford it, but I can't justify it. I have plenty of CDs in the car to keep me entertained (the radio stations are trash) and lots of music on my computer. I don't really need to be listening to my collection all the time. No offense to owners of these devices. I've nearly convinced myself many, many times. I'm just too frugal.
Also, my phone can play MP3s. So I got a 1 GB memory card on the cheap...but I use it so rarely.

I have an MP3 player from Sandisk. Very tiny and works great, wouldn't want to have it any other way. Although, I almost never use it. I sometimes listen to music at home (on my stereo or computer), when I'm somewhere else, I don't. I also have a PSP which I don't and never will use as an MP3 player. My cellphone can also play MP3 and other music files. Not using that feature either. Size > Features. By the way, why didn't you make a poll?

By the way, why didn't you make a poll? ;) I ... dunno. D: I guess I want people to type? XD And in response to drakono's comments, it took me FOREVER to buy an iPod since I would always convince myself that I didn't need to bring all the music from my hard drive around with me. I forgot how I caved in though. I primarily use the iPod in the car cuz radio stations play crappy music these days. No local 80's music station. :/

Heck yes, but I've adamantly refused to buy anything iPod. I'm another one in the Creative Zen camp, myself. Although mine's a Zen Sleek Photo 20GB. I used to have a 30GB but it was slightly big and clunky compared to the newer models and it's seen so much use I think I killed it. ^^;
Oh, I also have a teensy 1GB Creative MuVo player. Suffice to say, one or the other of these little gadgets is permanently in my purse and usually seeing much use at work. Helps keep the morons at bay while I like... y'know... try to do my job. =P
...I want one with more capacity now. T_T I'm so greedy.

The main reason I bought one was for running. I got tired of carying a CD player during long runs. Then I got addicted! I never owned a stereo, but I can hook my mp3 or CD player up to speakers and listen that way. I still listen to my real CDs, but for traveling, especially on a bicycle, which is mostly how I get around right now, the MP3 player is great!!

You don't have a stereo? Then how do you listen to your massive video game collection?

I would not buy an iPod anything, personally. You're basically just paying for a brand name. Yep. Especially seen as the quality isn't that great anyway. Sister got a nano despite me pointing out how easy it was to break them, but she didn't listen, got it and ... it lasted just over a month. Serves her right, I guess. Either way, I don't. Had an MP3CD player a while back but I've never upgraded from that, and don't really use that any more either. In my house there's my PC/the stereo, outside I just do without. Wouldn't want to walk round with big headphones outside anyway and earbuds are just... ugh. Uncomfortable as anything after more than half an hour or so. Also, GMF, get a stereo. Do it. Now. A big fancy high quality one With that collection it's almost criminal not to.

You know, my brother's been on me for years about getting a nice stereo. I went the cheap route long ago, and bought a pair of speakers which I can hook my mp3 or portable CD player up to. I also play my GBA and PSP games through those speakers. It's cheap but pretty neat. Maybe I'll get a real stereo one day.

So it is true then? You use a portable CD player for your music collection? This needs to change.

Cheaply attached speakers just aren't enough. You need a subwoofer that makes the floor shake! Yes, even for the 8-bit stuff.
Donation drive time?

NES/GB music + real bass (i e from large, competent speakers) = fantastic. It's not even comparable to the original sound coming out of your TV/Game Boy.

I hope you're home alone.
...actually, no, I hope you aren't. Video any priceless reactions from below.
I have to try this sometime, never thought to put any really old game music on through the stereo.

Reminds me of the days when I used to cruise around, windows down, and blaring Lunar and FFVI music at high volume. Stoplights were fun times. =D

Stoplights were fun times. =D d00de, once I get my FM transmitter, you can be sure I'll be doing that. I already threw a crap load of game OSTs onto my iPod. :3 I just got to convert some of the SPC soundtracks and stuff into mp3 though. :/
