Games - Ys series, and any online game with good PvP Well, I bet YOU'RE excited about Ys Online then. God only knows WHEN(/if) that'll come out though. I'm also an SSH fan by the way. Too bad they never record their stuff with real instruments though. I mean, it's some excellent use of MIDI, but it's still not real. By the way, for the recording school I'm going to, I'm supposed to do a project where I produce a cover of an existing song, so I've chosen to cover SSH's Mario theme, so in a few weeks, you'll probably get to hear at least that track with real instruments.

Awesome man. Are you sure about SSH though? At least one song comes to mind... their Castlevania medley. The guitar work in it is really uh.. rough and not quite perfect and fake sounding. Also, at one point in the song he busts into Iron Maiden - The Trooper for about 12 seconds and then goes back to Castlevania like nothing happened. :)
Course I dunno, I've never looked that far into it. But I'd be interesting in hearing your cover when you finish it. Drop me a line on AIM.

Yeah, I'm fairly certain. I read about it somewhere for one thing. For another thing, you can tell if you really listen, like how all of the attacks are the same and such. As for being off at times, I ALSO read that while they use synthesizers, they capture the MIDI data by actually playing on MIDI guitar controllers, and that would certainly account for it...but of course, if they can ACTUALLY play guitar, why wouldn't they just record it that way? Oh well..
