Welcome to the forums, Rhyanna!
Lufia was one of my first RPG's as well. Lufia II I found to be especially challenging, at least in the puzzle aspect. The battle system could've been a little tougher in spots, but it's still one of my favorite games.
What did you think of Lufia: The Legend Returns? I never could get used to the randomness of those dungeons...

Hello I actually havent played it :/ I keep meaning to, it just... really kinda seems like a half-assed portable sequel, and I am not a big fan of those.

That's not far from the truth, actually. It is what most would call mediocre, but it's still kind of fun... for a little while. The dungeons can really get annoying; no puzzles or anything, just killing monsters, and trying to find the stairs to the next floor - and it's all random, except for a few floors. After a while, I found myself just making a dash for the stairs. Not a good sign. The game also has numerous typos in it, but that can actually be comical at times ("frue destruction" XD).
One of the things I did like about it was the battle system, although the special moves you can use mostly depend on what you find in the dungeons. There's also quite a few battles that you're meant to lose, but can win anyway (about 6 or so?), just like the first Gades battle in Lufia II. Definitely the high point of the game for me.

That makes me sound like I'd rather play Lufia 2's ancient cave a couple times . . .
I need that on my DS. Granted, I'm typing this from the same acer that I use to play Ys on the bus, but there's something nice about having a game on a handheld, and lufia 2 would work perfectly on a DS or a gba.

That makes me sound like I'd rather play Lufia 2's ancient cave a couple times . . . Yeah, that's about what the dungeons amount to. Except in TLR, I don't think you can find spells in the dungeons (can only buy them, I think), just moves similar to Lufia II's IP system. At least Ruins of Lore got rid of the dungeon randomness, and added some puzzles back in, but Lufia II's were still more enjoyable, IMO.
