Hello all!
I'm new to the Ys fandom with time, but not with game completion! A couple of weeks ago my girlfriend was visiting and had Ys DS. I'd played Ys3 for the SNES a couple times and never really gotten it down (the response time felt a little poor) but this was way different. She was playing through the second part of the first dungeon, and I was fascinated. Eventually she got to the bonus area, and the bonus boss, and was having trouble finding the pattern.
Proudly I found it, and nearly beat it. The button for sword felt normal, but when I played Ys I&II eternal complete translated, I have to say I preferred it that way. Next I moved on through Felghana, Mask of the Sun, and just lastnight beat Kefin: Expert. As we speak I'm playing VI, and so far I'm loving it.
I grew up playing a lot of rpgs, and am a bit of a writer. For my job, I do tech support, and have been doing it for my friends/family since I can remember.
I cant think of anything to say, but this looks like a great place and I've enjoyed reading that there are more Ys games to play!

Welcome to ALoY! We're a pretty diverse group, but we all have Ys in common. We've got members from everywhere, around the world -- hope would always be here. Take care and I hope you enjoy your stay.

Welcome, Rhyanna. You seem a lot like my friend kiyuki in that once I showed him the Ys series, he went on an Ys rampage and started playing and finishing all the series' major titles right away! Good spirit that is. Uh, also, I hope you don't mind me asking this, but: A couple of weeks ago my girlfriend was visiting and had Ys DS. Did you really mean girlfriend or was it boyfriend? Sorry, I'm just curious. I hope I'm not being rude asking this.

Welcome, Rhyanna!! ^.^ Nice to see another girl all over the Ys series. This is a good community-- one of the very few I've continued to come back to for the crowd. Enjoy! Uh, also, I hope you don't mind me asking this, but: A couple of weeks ago my girlfriend was visiting and had Ys DS. Did you really mean girlfriend or was it boyfriend? Girls also call their female friends "girlfriends," Red. At least in the United States, it's fairly commonplace. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Welcome welcome, well if you like Ys, then you will DEFINITELY ENJOY Brandish. I myself am an RPGer at heart (I would like multiplayer games, like fighting and sports but my brothers are too ruthless T_T). Tell us about your favorite RPGs, and the amazing OSTs that bring the games to life^_^

Hey, as much as I luv Ys, which is every where on this SITE (makes sense since it is a The Land of Ys) I just feel people should know about more then just one of the masterpieces brought to us by Falcom. In the end they bring us what we luv so much about gaming, so its only fair to make it known that they have other great games too right?

Welcome, Rhyanna. You seem a lot like my friend kiyuki in that once I showed him the Ys series, he went on an Ys rampage and started playing and finishing all the series' major titles right away! Good spirit that is. I'm a very obsessive gamer. I'm also very picky. Lately more and more of the stuff I like has made new, dull iterations that make me dissappointed, so it made me squeal to find a game that to me, feels much like Zelda without annoying puzzles or an ad nauseum ammount of keys. Uh, also, I hope you don't mind me asking this, but: A couple of weeks ago my girlfriend was visiting and had Ys DS. Did you really mean girlfriend or was it boyfriend? Oh, I actually did mean girlfriend, in the non US "friends" type colloquial meaning. I actually did mean Signifigant Other. I don't want to make a big deal out of it or anything, but yeah, you did assume correctly. Welcome, Rhyanna!! ^.^ Nice to see another girl all over the Ys series. This is a good community-- one of the very few I've continued to come back to for the crowd. Enjoy! Thanks, its glad to be here! I've become very sick of online communities as of late, but this does seem a really awesome crowd - so its been really really nice for a restored sense of goodness in humanity! Welcome welcome, well if you like Ys, then you will DEFINITELY ENJOY Brandish. I myself am an RPGer at heart (I would like multiplayer games, like fighting and sports but my brothers are too ruthless T_T). Tell us about your favorite RPGs, and the amazing OSTs that bring the games to life^_^ Thank you for the welcome! Have to sadly admit I tried Brandish and found it a little dizzying. It makes me a little sea sick. Turning around and around and around and around... I might give it another try sometime, but I sadly have to admit that it falls into the category of "probably fun, but I get sea sick too easily!" I love RPGs a lot though, first was SMRPG, and I became a huge Final Fantasy fan for a long time, big fan of the Zelda series, Lufia (Estopolis) and Lunar. Also I adore platformers. I LOVE videogame music, and I often have midis playing. I joked yesterday I want to invent a midi player, ala mp3 player, just for my introducing friend due to her love of the original Ys3 SNES music. A bit belated, but welcome to the board, Rhyanna! Please enjoy your stay, and don't hesitate to ask questions whenever you need to! Thanks for the warm welcome! I intend to ask away, and hopefully contribute. I also adore your avatar, I have to say. Pie, is there anything it can't do?

Welcome Rhyanna! Nice to see more girl gamers around! I have to say I started with RPGs about the same way as you, with Final Fantasy and Zelda for the SNES, and Phantasy Star for the Genesis. And I also feel seesick with some games - I never could stand Doom type games, for instance.

I don't want to make a big deal out of it or anything, but yeah, you did assume correctly. Ah, I see. That's okay. I was just curious. Thanks for answering and also sorry again for intruding. =s (Also, Lumi, aha! 1-0 for me! ) Well, back on topic, which version of Ys VI are you playing by the way? I suppose it's the PC version, right? Also, since you say you really love video game music, then you should check out "Ys Book I & II" for the PCEngine CD (a.k.a. Turbo Grafx 16 CD). Actually, there are also a version of Ys III and Ys IV for that same console, in which I equally recommend. I'm SURE you won't be disappointed.

Yeah, I was about to recommend Vantage Master Japan's OST myself. I bought it from shinikenshi at The Marketplace some months ago and "WOW!!! ". Track 3 is GODLY. I mean, IT RULES. It drives me mad, it is way, way too good.

And I also feel seesick with some games - I never could stand Doom type games, for instance. Thanks for the welcome! Glad to be around Very... welcoming... place! Okay, that was horrible. I should have just italicized it. I did play the first Phantasy Star and was very impressed, and then a friend telling me most of PS2 stopped me from playing it - it sounds like the most depressing game ever! Well, back on topic, which version of Ys VI are you playing by the way? I suppose it's the PC version, right? I'm playing through the PC port. I just killed the hornet boss. Teehee, taste lightning! The swords remind me a lot of IV in a nifty way, the SNES version anyway. I intend to play the PS2 version eventualy, but part of the reason I got the PC version is because I have an Acer Aspire One netbook, and it can play Ys games pretty well with good battery life. They make the bus to work and back very exciting! I'll need to take your advice and look up the music Yay, glad you like it! It's from the (sadly canceled) Bryan Fuller TV show "Pushing Daisies". On an unrelated note: Awesome, awesome tagline. Very muchly so! Aww, I'll need to give it a look, I think I've had it recommended to me before. And glad you like my tagline! For a week after I played Ys I & II I threatened people I'd run into them diagonally if they kept mouthing off to me. The ones who knew giggled, others' mystified expressions? Priceless.

Oh, LOL, only now I noticed the tagline! XD Indeed, awesome!
Ah, by the way, it's already becoming a tradition here in these boards to warn everyone who joins to stay away from both Ys IV and Ys V for the PS2. Seriously, you're better off without them. xD
Also, just so you know, PCEngine CD games have most of the soundtrack in CD-DA format. Therefore, you can insert the disc into a discman if you have one. and listen to the games' soundtracks! I do this a lot on buses and such.

My first RPG was . . . Super Mario RPG, followed close behind by Lufia 2.
Looking at the Lufia series, while the first is very blatantly stealing from FF, there seem to be many influences from Ys. Lufia herself looks rather reminiscent, as does our hero in Lufia 1 (nameless) and Maxim does too.
Hooray for shooting monsters in the butt with arrows to avoid another Charred Newt!
