I'm terribly sorry, I didn't know that there was a separate section for newcomers.
I'm new to this site, but not to Ys. I've been a fan of the series (and Adol) since Ys III in the early 1990s for the SNES. Currently, I'm playing Legacy of Ys for the DS.
One of these days I would love to be able to play the Ys games that didn't make it officially to the U.S., especially Dawn of Ys and Ys 5.
RL, I'm an advocate for disability rights and work part-time. I'm also a fanfiction writer (been in that field for over 10 years). I'm considering writing an Ys fanfic called "Sky Eyes". it'll be from Dogi's POV, 1st person, and will take Oath of Felghana into account.
Nice to meet fellow Ys fans!

Sounds cool! Welcome to the forums Cassiopaeia. I haven't read too many Ys fanfics before, but your Dogi one sounds great! I know there are plenty of Dogi fans here who will be very glad to hear this information. : )
Any chance you could include the line "They call me Dogi the Wall Crusher. Wanna get your walls crushed?" in your fanfic perhaps? *laughs*

Eh heh heh...well while the fic is from his POV, it's also dealing with his thoughts about Adol. I'll warn you all now, it might not be fully canon, as I haven't been able to play IV (MotS /or/DoY) or V. I have seen the Anime, played Ys III (for the SNES) and did a lot of reading (and watching) of Oath in Felghana (not to mention playing Legacy of Ys for the DS), so it'll be from those that I'll be writing this from.

I think that Dogi really COULD be a psychologically complex character. In the same way that Gatsu from the Berserk series is also a highly complex character, but gives off the impression to others that he's just some hulking brute with a large sword.
Anyhow, good luck with your fanfic Cassiopaeia.

Thanks, guys. LiquidPolicenaut, eh? Funny I was watching your Ys videos on Youtube last night before finding this site. What're the odds, huh?
Anyway I've started writing "Sky Eyes". Once it's done, I'll need a beta (hopefully you'll know what that term means), if possible. Afterwards, is there a specific place on the forums that I should post it (so I don't wind up in trouble)?

Well, not really. It could fit well in the "General Ys Discussion" and "Chaotic Chat" sections. Perhaps the latter would be best, but both are pretty much acceptable. I have never seen Ys fanfics, by the way.

What does that have to do with anything...?
Anyway, since it seems nobody knows what a beta is, I'll explain it.
A beta is a person that goes over fanfics before they're posted. The beta does stuff ranging from proof-reading to making sure that the characters are, basically, in character.

I guess the teaser wasn't worth commenting on.
Okies, if that's the case, I'll finish the fic but probably won't post it. After all, why bother if ppl aren't gonna like it?

Also, there are a lot of lurkers in this board, and I'm pretty sure many of them are into fanfics. xD Especially Ys ones. There are some members here who appear from time to time that would enjoy reading Ys fanfics too.
I didn't read it yet, but only due to lack of opportunity: yesterday I only managed to use the PC briefly, and today... I don't feel like reading anything that would put my mind into work, because I'm with a terrible headache today. (Played too much Phoenix Wright the day before. <.<)
Also, I'm not into fanfics (or even reading novels) myself. But I like to make exceptions. xD

I commented on it Cassiopaeia. I hope you won't mind my suggestions, but I do think that you're off to a great start. I wanted to post a reply earlier, but I've been so busy with college finals this week. Also, even though this forum is pretty active, there are people who drop by ever few days, weeks, or sometimes in the administrator's case, months even! : )
Anyhow, I hope you won't think about giving up on the story. I don't think I've actually ever seen a Ys fanfiction before, so seeing it from Dogi's perspective is an excellent way to go about recording their adventures together in a diary-esque type of format. Especially since Adol's diary would read something like this:
"Adol explained that a monster got in his way and he had to kill it in true buzzsaw-like fashion". : )
