I am kind of a music remixer. I only say kinda because I'm that good and generally don't deviate much from the source song. I do not know how to read music and as a result, I learned all these pieces by ear, so they're not going to be spot on.
Just to dispel any fears, yes I did remix an Ys theme, Termination to be exact. I was screwing around on my keyboard the other day and eventually figured out to play this song one note at a time.
The best way to start this thread off would be to list my songs chronologically, I guess :U
Well, my first foray into music was remixing my favorite theme ever, bloody tears from the Castlevania franchise. Let's lol at its awfulness...
After that, I decided to do Magus' Theme from Chrono Trigger. Hilarity ensues as I had trouble getting my timing together...
This next one came out surprisingly decent, it's an original piece called the Magnemix. I made it using no instruments aside from the cries of the Magnemite family spliced up and such. Definitely worth a listen.
Next is my only piece not dedicated to video game music. I was bored one night and after watching a Halloween marathon, I got the jingle stuck in my head, so I remixed that and threw in random guitars cuz I can.
After this piece, I took a break for a few months and got myself more comfortable with the program. When I came back, I did a mini medley of various songs from the Castlevania universe. Not great as I messed up quite a few songs, but at least they're all distinguishable.
After that, I decided to pay homage to my childhood and remix Dr. Robotnik's theme from Sonic 2. It's a bit more dancey that you remember, but it's all the Ivo goodness you love.
With Dr. Ivo out of the way, I decided to revisit my past and give Magus' Theme another shot. This time it came around great. I used guitars and violin's to give this theme that extra dark tone it deserves.
Next was Heart of Fire, which is the Stage 5 music from the first Castlevania game. Same instrumentation as above though it might be a lil harsh on the ears if you aren't expecting it.
Continuing on my Castlevania binge, I did Wicked Child next. This is the Stage 3 theme. Also came out alright.
Next was Out of Time, the stage music for the final level. This version is funky and very dancey. You'll be tapping your foot without realizing it!
This one is from Megaman Legends 2 for the playstation. It's a remix of the Calinca Tundra theme, the first overworld area of the game. I think the chorus in the background went well.
Also from Megaman Legends 2, this is the main theme of the Bonnes, the main "antagonists" of the Legends series. They're silly and make me chuckle.
Now then, I decided once more to revisit my past and redo Bloody Tears this time. This newer version is more relaxing and pleasing to the ears, if I do say so myself.
This is the boss theme from the first Castlevania game, Poison Mind. The theme is real short so I looped it a few times.
And now what you've all been waiting for, Termination. Well, While I think it's probably my best musical work to date, It's far from accurate as I left out alot of the frills and fanciness of the original theme. I guess you could call it an "abridged" Termination. My favorite aspect of this would probably be the chorus in the background, gives this piece that N64 Zelda feel to it.
I kinda wanna do the Song of Time now.
Well those are all my musical works, from 2 years ago until now. You can easily see how I progressed this far as I got more comfortable with the program. I'm kinda done with music making, but I get the urge to do it every once in awhile.
