This is probably old news but those that want to try it out, Microsoft has it available for download at www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspxHowever, note all of the information under the download instructions to avoid headache in the future. Oh yeah, I dunno if the RC will do this but the Win7 beta fucks with your Master Boot Record (and it was rather annoying to uninstall) meaning that even if you had an XP and Win7 dual boot going, you won't be able to reboot into Windows XP if Win7 is removed. Indeed, I speak from experience. So!! I do believe it is highly advisable that you follow the Installation suggestions on the download page.

A post about PC stuff?? Count me in But yeah, I've been using it since Beta. So no surprises there. But the problem with the Master Boot Record has nothing to do with Win 7. The problem was already there in the first place with Vista. Vista and Win 7 uses the same method of writing the MBR, which sorta fucks up with the XP installation on a dual boot. Well I used to dual boot Vista and XP, so I met that problem as well. In anycase, I've already long forgotten how XP looked like. Been using only Win 7 for all my daily computing. And if you need XP compatibility, there's the new XP mode and Virtual PC for Win 7 that allows seamless UI integration of XP programs in Windows 7. But be warned that that's just a better integration of a virtual pc. Compatibility with old 3d games don't count since the virtual pc cannot directly access the graphics card.

Well, that means it still has something to do with Win7 since it's in it as well! XD Actually, when I was reading up on fixing the problem of a WinXP freakout upon booting up my system after 7 was supposedly gone, every result I encountered was referenced to Vista. :x SINCE I HAD NO VISTA CD OR RECOVERY DISK, I couldn't exactly go that way. >:| I can't remember how I fixed it (other than enlisting Ubuntu to help with removing Win7 files) but I'm quite sure I bitched about it lots in my journal (and maybe here too).

A post about PC stuff?? Count me in :P lol :P Heheh. I'm sure I can make more posts about the computer! XD!! Like ... what's a good brand for RAM sticks? :o I'll probably get another 2 GBs (I only have 2 GBs right now) in the near future. I mean, seeing that I'll most likely upgrade to Windows 7 anyway~! Just gotta check whether my motherboard takes DDR2 or DDR3. X_x

The speed geeks usually go for Corsair or OCZ ram, but it's unnecessary imo. But one word of warning, if you're adding on to your existing 2 gb rams, my advice is to buy the exact same rams you have now. Some newer motherboards are picky when it comes to ram, especially if you want to mix and match rams from different makers.

Oops, and some more advice. If you have 2 GBs of ram currently, get another 2 or 4 GBs. You have to have pairs of rams whether DDR2 or DDR3. And I mean in sticks. Like if you have 2 x 1 GB ram taking up 2 ram slots, get another 2 sticks of 1 GB ram. If you have 1 stick of 2 GB ram, buy another stick of 2 GB ram to get a total of 4 GB.
6 GBs of ram and above is rather overkill, but if they're cheap why not? After all if you're using Win 7 64 bit, you can use up to 128 GBs of ram (way overkill).
But if you're on Win 7 32 bit, my advice is to upgrade to 64 bit to make full use of 4 GBs of ram. 32 bit OSes can only make use of a maximum of 3 GBs of ram.
I'm on Win 7 64 bit btw. Loving every minute of it.

Wahaa! Bought new RAM so now I'm up to 4 GBs! I'm set for 64-bit Win7! Although I was set before with the 2 GBs but now it's moreso than before!
I installed the x64 version on my new laptop and it's so fun to use. TT~
I'll probably put it on the desktop soon but I just don't know which partition to shrink. ^^
(And once I put it on, I'll be triple booting! X___x)
