Well I just got back from seeing this and 300 and I must say that while they hype of the trailers looked cool before the movie itself lived up to it bringing back the old school flavor into the new generation era and not screwing it up! That's quite an accomplishment. Anyhow I really enjoyed it and I think it was both smart and effective of them to produce it in CGI, and the effects were high quality the fight scenes were very smooth and fast paced and I kept thinking to myself while watching it, "Man, this movie must have been expensive to make!" Anyhow, it was pretty great and nostalgic experience and I'm rather shocked that this thread kinda died out before the movie came out.
I'm curious to know what you all thought of it, spoilers of course. : )

I love the turtles the way I remember them, as they were in the old movie and cartoon series, and to me that's how they should be if they must be brought back. It pisses me off when icons of my childhood are brought back only to be bastardized and raped of their essence. Ex: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Transformers, Turtles. If you want those things, bring them. If you want something totally different, then make something different! The new Turtles movie looks to be somewhat loyal, but how can there be a Turtles movie with no Shredder? I don't know, I'm on the fence with this one.

Well from what you said, I'm gathering you haven't gone to see it yet, but without saying too much I will say that they explain why Shredder isn't in the movie.

I saw it too. The Turtles were a little too skinny for my tastes but the movie definitely reminded me of my youth. April was hot as usual but she's with whats-his-face?? Oh well. Now we should start a thread on the new Transformers movie.  |
